Dave's 1st Gig - Purple

I see now. Thanks. Is it attached to anything? If so, can you raise it up into the water column, to get more flow? It looks pretty low flow, sitting that low in the tank, but maybe it's just my choppy internet.

You both seem to have started with a rough one from the start. There may not have been anything to do for them. Some are able to just hang on for a long time, a long slow decline, others melt in one day. It's a heart breaker to spend so much time trying to get one to stabilize. Sorry to see guys. It's a lot of water to try saving them, and a lot of work. All I can say is thanks for sharing, sorry to see.

It is not looking great. Mine does not look well either. I update later today

Don't let Minh fool ya, I saw his blue gig yesterday and it looked pretty good.

I think Minh is having green Gigantea fever. He may end up trading me that blue for a green. :spin3:

Yeah. It was in cold water from the beginning.
Honestly, I was expecting a better specimen from Diver's Den.
That's what I spent $300 and ordered from them.

If I wanted a poor specimen I could have went to PETCO....
Although I've had good luck with PETCO.

2 orders in a row from LiveAquaria I've had pretty bad service.
First I ordered a purple haddoni. But when it was time to deliver they said they had posted the wrong pic for it. So I asked for a the correct picture and it was a bleached haddoni.
So I cancelled.

My next order was this purple gig and a green mandarin.
Both arrived in 67 degree water. The mandarin was DOA.

And the gig.. well a fight from day 1. And has never been in good condition.
:deadhorse1:

Pretty disappointing and I'm not sure I will attempt to keep another gig.

I think it will be dead within the next day it two.

It did not like the move to my display.

I've since moved it back to QT and am treating with cypro and the other antibiotic that I have.

Yeah. Afraid so.

I had it on antibiotics the same day I received it and had it on 2 different kinds for 2 weeks +.

Maybe that was the issue. You put it on antibiotics before it showed signs of infection...?

If you put meds on a healthy anemone IMO it only goes downhill since it causes it to purge good bacteria aswell...

I know its after the fact, but personally I like to wait 24 hours to see how it rebounded from shipping.. as you said in the original post the water temperature and quality was less then ideal.

Possibly.

I might try that next time.
I've been trying to follow advice on the forums.
But who knows. I keep asking myself... what if I had used this first, changed lighting, flow, etc. etc.

I do see some mistakes that I made.

I will have to try not to commit the same ones next time.

But no matter what I have done (and maybe done wrongly) it just kept heading downhill.

Well there is another nice purple gig coming into divers den tonight, if you want to try again. :)

Yeah, $399 and it was HUGE...12" I was ready to pull the trigger, but 12" is 4-5" too big for my tank.

It took about 10 minutes before it got sold....I wonder if it will surface on the forum.
