Dave's worlds slowest pico build

Nice rock!

It's my first experience with "real reef" rock. I see where people would complain about it. It isn't very porous so for filtration purposes it's not going to work as well as say, poukani. However, for my purposes it's awesome. I don't think I'd ever pack a big display with it but this chunk for my pico is perfect. It's nice and purple and eventually real coraline will cover but until then it looks the part

trumpeting - the moment we've all been waiting for (drum roll)......WATER!!!!!
hahaha i couldn't resist :lmao: it great you've got water and rock in the tank finally Dave  the rock looks so awesome:beer:

Awesome hiding I couldn't even see it

No you can see it lol it just wasn't in the tank yet in the picture I took ha I thought about one of those neo therm heaters, 25 watt or so, and tucking it in the HOB filter. I don't know if that's safe or not though lol

No wonder I couldn't see it :lolspin: . I would put the Heater in the tank so just in case the filter stops and your not there to fix it, at least the tank will stay warm and everything will survive.
Just my take on it anyway:)

Chopped up bits of shrimp. I never ghost fed before so I'm interested in seeing how this works. It's a simple idea though. Create an ammonia source to kick start a bacteria boom. People even have gone as far to literally dose ammonia into their tanks. I always used per existing live rock out of old tanks so I never really deal with cycles but because I wanted to try out this rock from my LFS I'm giving ghost feeding a shot. This is kind of my experimental tank as well I guess

Kessil FINALLY has announced a controller for their lights. I suspected they weren't too far off. Frankly with the addition of controllability I see no reason not to buy a Kessil for a bigger tank at some point in the future. It was the only thing that ever really held me back from them.

I also did the chopped up bits of shrimp. I'd smoosh a piece of shrimp the size of my thumbnail and let it settle in the tank. I would do it every 2-3 days..you can see the shrimp start to deteriorate.

I also dosed MicroBacter7 during this time.
