Tried to get your email addy from the member list--How long have you lived in Temecula? I moved away from there in 1972; there were 204 people in the town then.

I don't think this is really the right forum, but anyways, I think there are probably 204 people waiting to exit off of the 15 to goto the mall right now. ;)

That place has exploded.

guess it's time to take a road trip! This I gotta see. When I was there, the town had one street. We even had a carnival when we got our first (only) stop sign.

Temecula got huge ... I grew up in Norco, and that place sure has changed.... I moved out in 1999 to go to college, the change since then has been remarkable - Temecula even moreso.

Ha! The only industry when I was there (other than drugs) was Bianchi leather. I went to Temecula elementary from 67-70. I think there were 50 kids, tops. My family lived out by Butterfield/Vail at the racehorse training center. There was a restaurant at the Plaza; don't remember what, but it was pretty fancy--tablecloths and everything! And there was one in town called the Swing Inn, had a plastic cow with swinging udders on top of the sign.

Ah, the mall is near Bianchi, but on the east side of the 15.

It's actually become a bedroom community for San Diego (though I can't freakin' imagine that commute)...so it's quite a bit more yuppified than the rest of the Inland Empire.

Where are you in NorCal?

I live in Williams, 60 miles north of Sac. It's a lot like I imagined Temecula would grow up to be. It takes me less than 5 minutes to get from my house to work. I feel frustrated when I am held up at the stop sign waiting for 3 cars. I actually had someone stop in at Taco Bell and ask where I lived--one of my students worked there and called to let me know I had a stalker! It turned out to be a friend of my dad's. No malls, one flashing intersection light, quiet.

yes. How funny. I went to Sturgis a few years ago and no one had heard of Williams, but when I mentioned Granzella's every biker knew where I lived!

I grew up in Temecula from 89-97. I remember that place must have quadrupeled in size while I lived there. I can't stand going their to visit friends now because they still have the same 3 exits off the freeway. Its also depressing to see areas that I rode dirtbikes and horses now covered with shopping centers. The swing inn cafe is still alive and kicking. Used to ditch school to get biscuits and gravy in the morning. Pechanga casino is like the nicest indian casino in the state and is off Pala road about 5 miles past the Pala/79 split. I spent half my senior year there when it opened. Got to love 18 and over gambling. Pechanga 21 FTW

It will probably depress me as well, but I have to go see it. My brother and I used to pack up our camping gear and ride the horses to a great spot just east of the training center (Valle de los Caballos--is that still there?). We would also spend Friday and Saturday nights at Butterfield; free dances, $5 steak bbqs, free movies. I used to dream about going back to raise my kids, but never got around to it. If the weather is nice during spring break, I may just fire up the harley and go take a look.

I have lived in Temecula for 17 years.

There is now about 95,000 people here and another 85,000 in Murrieta.

Quite the change!
