DD fish or LA fish purchases

Hi everyone!!! Just checking to see if anyone has gotten and acclimated Divers Den fish this past month.....

1. How are they doing...eatting etc....
2. How did you acclimate them....?
3. Did you QT?

I ordered a longnose hawkfish pair, and a Mccoskers wrasse from DD.

1. The male of the "pair" didn't make it, female was always chasing and harassing, I divided the tank to help, but he never ate, and died w/in their warranty. Super good customer service with refund, received it promptly.

2. The Mccoskers died within a week - was eating and swimming fine, acting normal, then one morning - dead. No idea what happened. Again no issues with refund.

3. Acclimation was fine. Salinity was at 1.025, and so was my QT. Floated for 20 min then added.

4. My remaining longnose is doing great. Eating like a champ. Has going through one round of prazi, a formalin dip, and is just about to finish up with TTM. I'm moving her to final observation on Thursday to watch a few more weeks.

i got my order from regular LA last week of 4 resplendent anthias, 4 wheelers watchman gobies. 2 anthias died in qt the next day and the other 2 seem to be hanging in so far. gobies seem to be doing fine

3 fish, 3 urchins, and a clam received earlier this week from DD and all are doing well (as they always do for me from DD).

"Pair" of Banggai Cardinalfish from Diver's Den. Best 80$ I ever spent on "cheap" fish, since all the other (larger) banggai's I ever bought locally died within a week. Mine are chasing down food, eating, and being wonderful! I acclimated them by the directions, but did not QT (I should have though).

LA is not bad but better than most that are really just shipping straight from the importer. I only buy from DD (fish or aquacultured corals).

1. How are they doing...eatting etc....

Flasher Wrasse. Doing well, eating well

2. How did you acclimate them....?

20 Minutes of temperature acclimation. Added a few cups of tank water to the bag every ten minutes. Released fish via net after doubling of water volume. No meds

3. Did you QT?

Yes. It's going on it's third week of an eight week QT. No meds unless necessary.

Sorry for any losses you guys had...but glad that some are doing good. Was there any signs that the ones that didn't make it were having trouble? Do you think was a salinity issue...ammonia from shipping bag....or something else? Anyone else can chime in too......

I've noticed the orders I received in the past from other companies had really small fish, I can't wait to order from divers den or la

I recieved an order with a percula and 2 Rio negro pleco. All 3 doing fine. Lost at least half the hermits and snails though. Doa

On Tuesday I got a Yellow Candy Hog Fish from DD. It arrived in great conditions and very well packaged along with a hand warmer for heat.

I don't have a QT, my situation is I can't have one so I make due without. Yes I know all about I really should but it's not going to happen.

I acclimated this fish like I do all of the fish I order online or pick up at a LFS. I've been doing my acclimation this way as long as I've been keeping tanks both FW and SW. My method is almost exactly what LA/DD recommends. After floating the bag for 15-20 minutes I open the bag and I immediately put one capful of Prime or Amquel in the bag, this isn't in the directions from LA/DD but I learned this from an LFS owner over 20 years ago and I've never lost a fish due to acclimation. Anyway once the Prime is in the bag I begin putting 1/2 cup of tank water in the bag every 4 minutes. I continue to do this until the bag is full. Then I dump out 1/2 the water from the bag and repeat adding the 1/2 cup water every 4 minutes until the bag is full again.

Next I take a 5 gallon bucket and put 2 gallons of tank water in it and add Formalin then put the fish in for about 30-45 minutes. After the Formalin dip is finished I put the fish in my DT.

I have only had one problem in all the years I've been acclimating this way and it was from not using Formalin years ago. I put a blue damsel in my 200 gal and every fish in my tank died within 3 days. Probably brook or velvet not sure. So yes I'm all too aware of the what can happens if you don't QT. I probably lost over $7500 in fish from this. :hammer: It was all my fault and I had only myself to be mad at. When this happened I got out of the hobby until last year. I've been out of the hobby for over 10 years. This month makes one full year being back in, and I am loving my 40b mixed reef and fish that I have.

Anyway the Yellow Candy Hog Fish is doing fine accept for my Cherub Angel and my McCosker's wrasse harassing him. :hammer: Today seems like the Cherub angel isn't as aggressive and is actually running the McCosker's wrasse away from the YCHF.
