DD Sneak Peak- Potter's Trio

...... Europe is 10 times cheaper than US.

You said europe is 10x cheaper than US. Since we are paying $400, you must be paying $40. Or were you being overly dramatic?

I said 80$ for a healthy adult. Not everything is divided in 10 you know. I am not being dramatic, it is just an expression but yes, somethings are 10x cheaper. And I meant in general, since I already told you the price for a potters.

This should all cover it.

I have a suggestion for you "sTefaniA" (( and BTW --- I hate the random CaPs )), stop while you are ahead.

I said 80$ per adult

The thing is, sure you can purchase them for $80 per fish (or $240 for a trio), but you make it seem as though you're saving an insane amount of money. Buying them off LA DD at a cost of $400 is getting you 3 healthy fish that are eating and are at the very least all tolerant of one another. On top of that you get a 14 day guarantee on their survival.

So at least some portion of that $160 can be attributed to their guarantee and the extremely high quality of the fish you're receiving. It isn't exactly a crazy mark up for them being a trio.

For what it's worth I can get Potter's angels for ~$60 locally and when I saw the price I wasn't stunned at all by it. LA DD very rarely has trios of angels up and when they're do have them, they are usually sold at a premium.

Dude, why are you so insulted? I am not the only one who thinks the price is too high, I didnt buy them, you obviously didnt either so whats your problem? I didnt buy them, I gave the reason why I didnt and I gave my personal opinion about it. Wich wasnt adressed to you or anything.
But you obviously seem very unhappy about the fact that I called the trio expensive, and lets not forget, the random CaPss (they must make your life a living hell)
So chill man... Its just a fish.

There is no point in discussing price or your opinion of price; like everything else that costs money, price is justified for those who bought them.

I am more interested to see how these guys will play out once established in a home aquarium. This thread should be discussion about Potter's Angels, not price.

Let's also not forget, these Angels are not exactly easy to get eating, conditioned, and ready for home aquaria. Think about buying 5 or six of them at 40 bucks a piece at your LFS before you get one that survives...compared to buying just one from DD.....the price point becomes more relative then, to most people. Delicate fish are worth the extra money.

:)

Try and trio potters and then see how well it goes and what the final cost is when you finally have 3 healthy potters that tolerate each other. We can all add here so we know how much we can all buy 3 potters for. But there is a big difference between that and the final outcome that DD is selling.

Potters can be very aggressive and a true trio that doesn't end up with the smallest one gettting the #@^@ beat out of it or dead is not easy.

I find it too expensive for just a trio of regular angelfish. They are not rare or uncommon. Normal price for a fullgrown healthy adult is 80$
This is one adult and two juveniles. It is not a mated harem. Its just an adult and two baby's. I have seen more pairs or trio's that exist of a big one and a small one, but it is no guarantee for a good pair. It isnt even a pair!
If you include shipping costs you are paying 400$ for a big potter who tolerates two smaller ones. I would at least want a mated trio for that kind of money. I didnt even pay half that kind of money for my healthy flake and pellets eating achilles tang. I could get two feminine wrasses for 400$ Or a pair of candy basslets. This is a really good example of how much prices can vary between country's. Europe is 10 times cheaper than US.

Europe is in no way 10x cheaper than the US,in the uk potters are about £50-£60 so with the exchange rates about $85.That trio would have been a bargain over here

LA sell potters starting at $59.99 to $79.99. So if you bought three of them that would be about $180. But you only get a 14 day guarantee from LA and a 30 day guarantee from DD. I guess you are paying for the fact that they are a trio and the longer guarantee.

sTefaniA --- Will say this one last time -- quit while you are ahead.

You can - one last time - me as much as you want.
Public forums are for posting opinions in a polite way.
Not for pointing your finger at me because you have a different opinion.

False. Your earlier rant proves me correct.

I am also curious to see who got them because I wonder if they will keep tolerating each other once they are established in someones tank.

I would be surprised if the owner comes forward after your previous postings. If you were really curious about it you could have just said something like "wow, that seems like a high price" and left it at that - if you really needed to say something about the price, which would appear to be your motive for posting.

Next time if you're genuinely curious about how the fish are doing and getting some updates try to not to lambaste the idea of purchasing them. Maybe the owner will come forward with some updates and you'll actually learn the reason they're worth what they cost (or not).

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll hear more about these fish, but I'm not optimistic. If the owner is reading this I hope you'll consider the number of us here that would love to hear how things go...

Debi, go ahead an close it, these people just want to argue and that was not the point of the thread.

Thanks.

I as well would also just like to hear the outcome on these beauties. Dang you, whoever scooped 'em up, hope they thrive wonderfully!

Well..as a potters angel lover i would enjoy if the person who did buy them would share some pics even if its on another thread. Please dont allow the money talk or any other what i would consider negativity stop you from sharing your new fish:)I always love to see paired fish and a trio is a nice bonus-Kieth
