De-barbing a tang?

Has anyone successfully done this? My sohal tang is aggressive to my yellow and purple tang only during feeding time in 240g tank, especially when I throw in the nori clip. He is only aggressive when food is in the water but is a model citizen 95% of the time. Had him for 1 1/2 year since he was 2" and now is 4.5-4.75", he's been like this since I got him. His barb is pretty brutal as it leaves puncture wounds but it usually heals up within a week. Thoughts? I've caught a handful of adult naso's hand line fishing in hawaii and alot of them have missing barbs. Any insight would be helpful, thank you.

toenail clippers. If you clip to low, you will need to treat immediately for bacteria infections. If you just clip the spine off, it will grow back in time.

Do they grow back? I thought once its completely removed its gone for good? I wouldn't mind throwing him in the QT and treat the wound for a couple of weeks.
