It IS amazing what they can bounce back from. I've had them come back for a single sneaky polyp before. But only once or twice. Typically when they're at that point it is curtains for them
Thank guys. I'm not sure what went wrong. i have other sps in the tank. I started it half way up in the tank. it started to get white so I moved it to the bottom. it was blue when i got it. less than a week in the tank. water is stable although calcium and magnesium are high (580 & 1360) . tank is about a year old. Is there anything i can do to help it recover?
Sometimes they just aren’t perfectly healthy to begin with & the alk swing from where it came from to your tank is enough to do it in. I think that is the cause in a lot of cases where they die within a week. It’s Especially a issue for people who run higher alk. That is one of the reasons a lot of sps tanks run a alk between 7 & 8 dkh. It is also a good thing to know what the alk is of the incoming coral. I get most of my sps from my lfs & they run their alk around 8 dkh & I keep mine about 7.5dkh. So there isn’t much of a swing from their tank to mine
