Dead pixel on my 50D?

Well I got the new camera in today, works nice :)

I'm sending the old one back to Amazon. I actually havent had time to check and see if the new camera has any hot pixels or any dead ones, but I'll do that this weekend.

Kind of nice getting to open two new cameras in two weeks ;)

good to hear that worked out Recty hopefully your replacement will be fine.

It happens to every digital camera, kind of like age spots.

I tried the 30 second exposure on my Nikon D-50 and couldnt find one. ive had the camera for over 3 years now. How long before sensors start to degrade or get hot pixels typically? or is there not really any way to gauge that?

 want me to send you the original raw file? :D
I suppose I may just be lucky- or.. how would I have not done it properly?

I think it is a hard test to screw up. Try bumping up the brightness a little bit. That is cheating and not necessarily showing a problem, but you should at least see areas that are different.
