Death of my 2 tanks

Wayne and Amanda,

I am sorry to hear this. I may be able to frag a few things for you too. I have plenty of leathers, and other various softies. Just let me know.

I recently had two major disasters that wiped out most of my tank so I know how you feel. After the first disaster (an overtemp like yours), I had a lot of problems with algae and the like. After the second disaster (electrical outage while I was away and the tank sitter didn't know about it for more than 12 hours), I decided to completely strip the tank. All that death caused a lot of problems for me that just would not go away. A lot of corals just slowly died with no explanation. So I cleaned the rock and replaced the sand and now everything looks great again. You should probably consider at least removing all the water and rinsing the rock in fresh salt water.

When you're up and going well again, I'll be glad to donate some corals to you.

Tim

Well Guys It was a total loss. 17-19 coloines SPS 8-10 frags well you get the Idea. That was just in the sp tank. Leigh Anne has my Acans: Lords( 2), Hills, Micromussas 15 heads, Echinatas 2 and a few other things. I could not stand to trash those guys, but it doesn't sound to good. Ouch!!!!

We cant thank everyone enough who has responded to our mess! It will be some time before I should put new stuff back in the tank most likely we will drain our tanks and scrub the rock and go from there. Thank You once again! Wayne And Amanda

Ok....

Is official.

Next meeting at UCO.....If you have a frag and would like to donate to a worthy cause, please bring a frag for donation to wayne and amandas tank rebuild.

I cant think of a better cause.

Paul.

Its a togh decision to strip down and start again, but it probably the only decision you can go with now. Im sorry.

I have been there, so have others....but in time a better tank will be established that you can enjoy.

Paul.

Not sure if I can make it to the next meeting......... However, I can donate 2 small colonies of Monti Cap. Shoot me a PM when your tank is back up.

Doug

Is the next meeting perhaps too soon. I am all into the "bring a frag" party idea. But I wonder if maybe the December meeting might be more timely so that they can get the tank back up and everything a little more stablized.

Just a thought........

I would suggest December. Thats six weeks to come back to a relative level of maturity.....

December will be at my house.

Paul.
