Debating on ordering...

So I've been looking for an online supplier to my tank for a few new things. I'm an equal opportunity buyer and just like anyone else have had my good and bad experiences.

Granted I've spent the last few days reading over some posts on your vendor forums and I realise for every 100 good orders you may have that at least 1 will go bad, and that one bad will be posted on. While I understand this....it really concerns me because the fish I'm looking to order all have no gaurantees.

I'm relatively close to where you ship from (~3hr flight)

Can I get a confirmation of what DoA means to you guys. I know what that means obviously, but is belly up still breathing every 30 seconds still considered "alive?"

Thanks for the question.

I think the ratio is closer to 500 to 1 but I know what you mean.

What fish were you looking to get? Most of the animals that would not be guaranteed or restricted are placed in this category because of their sensitivity to unstable aquarium conditions or their specialized diets. None are restricted because they ship poorly. In some cases though, like with chysopterus or tricinctus, we insist people take air freight shipments in order to prevent losses.

To answer your question though, as long as you stay in communication with us and let us know about problems as soon as they are discovered, we are very forgiving of guarantee policy. The spirit of the restricted fish is not to sell the animal and hope it makes it alive and if it does, to wash our hands of it. We still want to ensure all animals reach their final destinations in good enough shape to where, if you are experienced and know how to care for that particular animal, you will have no problems.

Hope that helps. If you have any more questions, feel free to call 888-479-2583

I'm looking to get at least 5 purple queen anthias and a leopard wrasse to start. I know the needs of the anthias, and realise getting them to eat is more of the problems as I am currently housing quite a few as it is, succesfully I might add :D

Can I request to have me pick the box up directly from the airport to exclude my local shipping company/driver?

You can have the box held for pick up at your local FedEx sort facility or the sort facility closest to the airport. Or you can have the shipment sent via air cargo and pick it up from the airline cargo facility. This option is done as freight collect or COD so it is the more expensive way to go but it also results in zero losses the majority of the time.

Can I arrange for a same day shipment? I'm assuming it comes from LAX to BOI in my case. The airport has it's own sort facility so I could pick it up from there. Most the time it's the delivery company that causes the problems post airport.

Can I just put this in my comments section or should I call to do this order?

Yes, that would be an air cargo shipment. You would pay for the freight when you picked up the order from the airline. It is probably best to call the order in so the details of the shipment can be worked out.

It's amazing how this thread gets a response but the other threads where they are talking about bad service there is no response from bluezoo. I only delt with this company once and I told them that the way they treated me lost my business and they gladly accepted it.

To be honest to the poster of this thread, there are other quality livestock websites that you can most likely get this fish from that will give you great product and customer service.

I appreciate your input and I was reccomended to come here from some reefers I respect and would like to give them a chance and gather my own opinions from them.

Like I said earlier most people only ever write about how they had bad experiences :D I would assume that you probably don't know if BZA is actually contacting their customers that had bad experiences, who really wants to air out dirty laundry on a forum?

I will be revisiting this thread during/after my shipment.

Well just placed my order for my anthias and a hawkfish and paid for saturday delivery. Hopefully everything arrives as described. I will update on how my fish arrive.

Well...just received my order and am currently acclimating per BZA instructions.

The flame hawkfish appears to have shipped extremely well. The anthias while not great are all breathing but didn't ship as well which is as expected.

Another hour I'll have an update, but won't be able to tell how everyones doing as the lights are off.

I will say though, BZA did a great job with packaging and the amount of water and keeping the fish upright and tightly in spot.

Got all the fish acclimated and put in. The flame hawkfish immediately hid in the rocks and has poke out a few times and is perching so it appears to be doing well. 3 of the purple queens started schooling immediately and the other 2 are yet to be seen.

Lights come on in another hour so I'll update then.

After 36 hours I have 3 purple queens eating and doing well. The same 2 that were hiding, still continue to hide and have not seen them eating.

The flame hawkfish appears to be swimming around well but have yet to seen him eat anything.

Feedings are massive and 4 times a day right now to promote feeding for all. I'm suprised by the eating of the queens as soon as they are.

Food include mysis/brine/cyclops/krill/pellets/emeral entree. Queens are responding to cylocps only which is as expected.

Well my verdict is in and my impression of BZA and the little amount of livestock that I ordered.

I was extremely impressed with the packaging of the livestock and the care they took to research where they were shipping the package as well. My package came with niether heat packs or cold packs so they obviously do their research prior to shipping and the weather involved. My forecast was to be in the mid 70's.

The livestock came in looking healthy and disease free. The care package with the instructions are very clear as to what they expect on the end user.

My only very minor suggestion would be to send out multiple airtubing with the suction cups to allow for acclimation process on multiple species. Granted most hobbyists have air tubing lying around or something of that matter.

All in all, if anyone is debating on ordering I felt their prices were right in the area that you would expect to pay when dealing with an online company. Their shipping and packaging was top notch. I would definately order again and thanks for the replies to my thread.

I too had had great experience with them. Great packers and they include everything to acclimate your fish. Great people to deal with for sure.

Mojo~

My parcel arrived today! :D

1 Clown Goby
1 Barnacle Blenny
5 sexy shrimp (all packed separately!)
1 yuma ricordea

All arrived safe and sound. Really well packed. Appreciated the free acclimatization pack; drip line, suction cup, food and some stress coat stuff.

Top marks all around! Thanks, I'll be back! :D

Good to hear.

All my fish I got on my order from BZA are still alive and doing great. I'm amazed I didn't lose a single purple queen anthia as I've lost some just transporting from a LFS.

:bounce2:

About ready for another order

I just placed a another order with them tonight. This is going to be my third order from them and I have always enjoyed the way things came in and looked. With my order tonight we have send emails back forth about just what I wanted and they came through for me. I always have to give them two thumbs up and I cant wait to get my new ritteri from them here in a few days.
