Debora!

Hi Debora,

Already started with the ABVE drops... next will be the Zeo+Carb+Phos and the Probio S + NP pro.
Later when FM balling light stuff ends will switch to Component 123
What do you think of this approach? Am I heading for trouble?
Also I would like to understand if and why you use a Calcium reactor. I thought the Comp123 were enough.
TIA

Perhaps she has give up AF.
Motivated by all the fuss around AF, I've tried their system and after 2 months the result was terrible.
I'm losing all my sps... the products are low cost, but the sps loss cost me much more. It was the worst decision I could have taken.

Why would Debora give up? She was having excellent results with the AF system. It's a system which is very similar to Zeovit but a little more gentle. It works no doubt about that.

Perhaps she has give up AF.

I am with AF system since February 2016 and happy... and no comments with Debora tanks...

So what was in the products that made your corals start dying? Did you document any of it in a thread or anything?

Hi piper27,

As some of the reefing issues I can't identify the thing(s) that caused it.
I've got all documented even because it happened in 2 months.
I had a well stocked sps tank but all brown. At the time I was fighting the phosphates and reading about AF.
When I had the phosphates below 0,1 I started with AF Energy+ Build 5 drops every 2 days and everything was ok. (It's a 100gal tank).
One week after I've introduced AF Vitality+Amino mix and after 1-2 weeks some colors started to appear.
Two weeks after and because NO3 was rising to 30 I've started Pro Bio S+NP Pro always dropping with everything off (skimmer, return pump, IB and ozone) for 2-3 hours.
Two weeks after the stylos started to appear with white spots and the acros with severe bleaching, starting from the bottom and in 3 days I had lots of corals completely white.
I've stopped dosing AF and the loss rate started to reduce. During this time I've done 2 WC (10%) 2 Chromis died, some xenia aren't doing so well, and all LPS are looking great.
Don't know if it's important but the bleaching has started from the bottom of the tank to the higher rocks. The first corals to go where the ones that were sitting at the bottom and some turn grey before going white.
I was planning to start with AF probiotic salt (I already bought a large bucket) but now I don't know if I'll use it.
During this time the PO4 and NO3 have gone gone up, sitting now at 0,3 and 40-50.
I've stopped AF and only have 1 acro dying. The remaining are returning to brown.

Thanks for asking. But I don't know if anyone can ask that question (we all know that)...
What I feel about AF is that there is not much information (from the vendor it's almost none) and that it's like other methods. For some person-tank it works, for others don't.

If you give a link to your thread maybe someone can help. Sounds like the tank was not ready for any change since phosphates were high and things were brown. When corals are brown they are very vulnerable to any changes ime. I don't want to take up space on this thread so post a link to your thread.

I Moser,
No zeolites, Just some siporax and matrix.
That was my thought first but the nitrates and phosphates were going up so I believed that the nutrients were there.
I really don't have a clue about what's happen but since I'm on the hobby for tens of years I know that sometime things don't work has we would like.

What's going on Debora? Is everything OK? Time for an update for sure, how is the display and the coral holding tank?

Aquaforest is now well established in North America..
In Canada, anyways, it is now available all over..
I think her work is done.
Still, an update of this stunning tank would be much appreciated.

Yea I am sure a lot of people started AF because of this tank. Main reason why any future updates would be worthwhile.
