Deflating Carpet Question

So I have a nice blue/purple Carpet, Giganteaus not Haddoni, and it has been in my tank for almost a month now. It was in the tank of the store I got it from for over a month. It deflated last night, for almost a day, and reinflated today. I just happened to go to the store I got it from today for water, and was told they expel water monthly, which causes it to deflate, and then they reinflate with new water. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this common knowledge that I just found out

I wouldn't worry about one deflation every now and then. But if you see it starting to increase, its a sign something is wrong.

Yep. It is when it is happening frequently is when you have to worry.

And not sure about the LFS saying it will happen monthly -- it isn't that regular.
