Deltec Equipment.

So when my brother was in the hobby years ago Deltec aquarium equipment was the thing to have. Now I can barely find a site to order from to get their stuff. Whats changed? Are they still the top of the line? Where can I purchase it from in the U.S. if I still wanted it.

Deltec doesn't really have much going on in the US anymore and their support has suffered greatly out here over the last few years. You may want to consider Royal Exclusiv/Bubble King as they are every bit as good and in fact even better IMO and have a decent dealer network along with a service center/warehouse in the US.
 
Thats a shame. I wasnt just looking at them for protein skimmers, I wanted to get some of their other products such as their nitrate reactor.
 
They were the bomb back in the day, but I think new competition that was more affordable seemed to push them out, or at least that was my take on it.
Now just recently I saw a blip somewhere that they were going to start putting new skimmers out again, I can't swear to it but I did see that posted somewhere, in fact I clicked on your post thinking that might have info on that.
 
Customer Service, poor distribution, and at the time the weak Dollar vs the Euro all combined to push Deltec out of the US. They make quality products, but there are definitely other alternatives or there that are as good if not better...
 
Well they are back.
Doug Thompson of Deltec USA to assume exclusive US distribution of all Deltec products
Wolfgang Weidl, owner of Deltec GmbH, is pleased to announce that effective immediately, Doug Thompson, owner of Deltec USA, will become the exclusive importer and distributor of Deltec products in the US. Mr. Thompson was the original importer of the Deltec product line, founding Deltec USA in 2004, and will handle all sales including parts requests, warranty issues, and Deltec related questions.

Deltec is back.. Doug is back handling them..
They will have a website up soon....

Very, I got some quotes and they were very favorable. I thought being Deltec they would be high but they were reasonable. Defiantly not low end pricing but reasonable.
 
Doubt many use them anymore, over priced and cheaply made. used to be good but everyone has over taken them.
