Just bought a juvenile ocellaris black clown and found him caught in my Dendro head first and dead.do Dendro usually eat small fish? And is this going to be a problem if I keep replacing my clown? It's only one headed Dendro in the bottom corner I my tank.

The clown was pretty small as I bought it to pair with a adult female
I should have taken a pic but was too shocked when I saw it and pulled him out asap. He was definitely healthy. Just bad luck

yeah the clown must have been on its way out anyhow. at least someone got a meal out of it rather than the toliet haha

I dont think a dendro is strong enough to kill a healthy clown. But funny story i thought mine did too one morning because i saw something reddish in the dendros mouth. I thought it was one of my gold bars and started freaking but then i saw them both in one of the rbts. I took a closer look and saw my coco worm was missing one of its two crowns. I didnt think anything would eat a tube worms crown but this dendro did. I guess they will eat pretty much anything they can get ahold of. Good luck with next clown u try. They are always much more fun in pairs.

My mistake, after researching rhizo that's exactly what I have,I picked up a single at a swap last year and thought it was a type of Dendro.considering how fast it is when I spot feed it, it can easily grab anything small that passes by it.thanks for the ID and now I've learned another lesson about the wild nature of the undersea world.( not cheaply though)Replacing my clown today.

I've got a pretty tiny new clown male in with dendros, rhizos and balanos in a small tank and he's been fine, day 1 he figured out the bigger rhizo was a good thing to stay away from, I could see maybe if he swam straight it but just touching it they should be able to get away from.

I have fed a fathead dendro a baby molly before...their tentacles do pack a a good amount of nematocysts.
