is it normal for clams to squirt water out. THis is is first night in the tank, and the actinics are on right now. i was watching him and nothing touched him but he just all of a sudden squirted water out of the top of the tank and retracted his mantle. about 30 seconds later his mantle is open again and acts like nothing happened. should i be worried

as long as nothing is picking at it then I wouldn't be worried

whey do they shoot water though?/

when they are open,they are full of water.if they close rapidly the water has to go some where. its normal.

Something probibly floated into its incurrent syphon that it didnt like so it spat it out.
