This is going to be a great build! Where exactly is Habersham? I'd be willing to come help move the tank when time comes just so I can see it. :D

Where in Georgia are you in relation to Alpheratta? I'm designing a new movie theatre in a new mall in Alpheratta and would love to come help/see your tank when I come into town for a job walk/meetings.

Crab000 and BBehring I think between the three of us we can get it moved LOL. I welcome all the help I can get. Habersham is NorthEast of Alpheratta take 285 to 85N to 985N to 365N and go about 20 miles or so untill you reach Alto, but don't blink or you will miss it. It will be about 2 months after I get home that the tank will need to be moved though, because the addition will need to be built.

great shots though.

Thanks, I don't get to take many pictures where I am now. Let's hope that my tank pics turn out as good.

I'm sure my GPS can find it. I can't wait to see this thing develop!

Time for an update:

I'm still in Iraq... I guess that's first and foremost... It's cold and wet here... I thought I was in the desert

Anyway, one of the great things about planning out a tank like this stuff will always change, and it’s better to change before something is built or bought. So my first change came in the size of the tank. I have decided to go a tiny bit bigger. The tank will now be 120"x72"x36” and after you take out the size of the acrylic (yes another change) it is roughly 1275 gallons. Spazz is building my tank. I will be flying up to his shop to see it being built when I get home... How cool is that... It's like seeing your car being assembled at the plant. There are several advantages to me doing this:
1. I get to see the tank being built.
2. I get to drive the tank home (hopefully saving a few $$ on shipping)
3. I will also get to go over to Two Part Solutions and pick-out my eco rock and again drive it home to save on shipping.

I have also decided to go with 8 Tunze 6100's that I got from www.socaltropicalfish.com Tom is great to work with.

I also bought a bunch of stuff from nyvp although I'm sorry to see him go his stuff will live on in my system. I got 2 Sequence 4200's that I will run into the custom OM 4 way he had made (it has a 2" in and 4 1.5" outs) This should give me about 7000 gallons of flow. I also got a Dart that I will use to fill the Surge system (50 gallons or so). I also got his Aquacontroller III (that he never used). Although after buying it I decided that the AC III would not be big enough so I also bought an AC III Pro. He also threw in some LED moon lights and Plumbing stuff.

On top of that I put in an order for 8 Lumenarc III reflectors and 8 400W magnetic Hqi ballasts. In addition to all this I also picked up an IceCap 660 (I figure I'll use it somewhere).

I also picked up a Hammerhead for my return (I just hope it will be enough I will have about 15-18 foot of head) that I will run through another OM 4 way that I picked up.

UPS is still dragging their feet about getting me my insurance refund. They picked the tube up, and I'm waiting. The 10" tube I purchased made it just fine :D It will be used for the Ca reactor, the Kalk stirrer and part of the skimmer.

So all I need now is everything else. Anyone feel like donating to a good cause???:D

wow, sounds like a GREAT tank!! will that be 1.25" acrylic? did you get nypd's skimmer? I don't think the hammerhead will be enough pump after considering the head loss, I'd go with a pressure pump like the marlin or even a Panworld 250, you should also consider using eductors on a tank that size for your returns

anyway, you will have a lot to look forward to on your return home, stay safe and thanks again for your service.

Thanks,
The tank will be 1.25" Acrylic, and no I didn't get nyvp's skimmer, but Spazz is building mine as well, although mine will be bigger ;) .
As for the Hammerhead, it should push about 3800 gallons or so at 15-18 feet of head. That "should" be enough. That's about all I will be running through my skimmer. I have an OM 4 way for the return, but I'm not sure I am going to use it (eductors will not work on an OM 4 way). If I don't use the OM I "might" use eductors. I don't think flow will be a problem. The 8 Tunze 6100's will give me about 25000 gallons an hour, the Closed loop will give me about 7000 gallons and the Hammerhead will give me another 3800. That's almost 36000 gph. That doesn't even include the surge (I figure it should give me the equivalent of about 15-20000 gph flow) so at peak times I will have about 50000 gph.

I will absolutely have a ton to do and look forward to when I get home. Thanks for all the support.

It will have a 24" diameter main tube that will be either 36" or 48" tall, the rest is completely up to Spazz. From what we have talked about it should hole 150 gallons or so and be about 6' tall. It will be a beast

great choice of reliable equipment and excellent build, on the main display 120" x 72" x 36" which is friggin awesome btw. could you explain to us how you will be doing maintenance work toward the front or middle display :D ? i'm 6' tall and having a hard time reaching toward the front unless i lay on top the eurobrace

I am going to one of two things and possibly both. I am going to have a "catwalk" Trolley that will roll across the top if the tank in a track. It will be wide enough that I can lay on it and I plan on getting wet. I may also have a hood door, of sorts, so that it would be a little easier to clean the front panel.

Hurry and get back safe SIR !!!! as we say to officers and a big salute to you. when you return I leave now in about 3 weeks to AFghaistan, They are telling me that we are going to have 3800 marines that will be working close support with us. so that should be good to go. UBIQUE As us GUNNERS say...

take care man .....

I have dreams about a rolling catwalk, but I just don't have the space. :(

BTW Bart, I just ordered a coraline pad from Mighty Magnets and will report on it in my thread.
