Devastating

I just woke up to the sound of my wave makers pushing air.... And the sound of water pouring out of the bottom seal on my tank :(

Sorry to hear about it. But take heart, life will go on.

My 180g tank (on a 400g system) broke back in Sept of last year. Now I have new bathroom cabinets, a new dining room wall, a new aquarium system and some new corals. Clean up is a pain and repairs can be costly. But a new system is like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear! But remember there are much worse things in life. This you can fix...I have three friends battling cancer

I woke up to that about 4 months ago when my 90g planted tank decided to do the same at midnight. I spent the next three hours moving plants, fish, and soaking up water. Just be glad it happened while you were home and able to catch it before the tank was empty.

Sorry to hear about your loss. As Ron says a new tank i like a phoenix rising! After my mishap I have gotten rid of all my freshy tanks and have been more focused on my reef and Im wayyy happier this way.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. When we bought our new house, I asked if the tank bursting and destroying things was covered under my home owners. The underwriter told my insurance guy that it was not, nor would they sell me insurance to cover it if it did happen.

He looked everywhere and couldn't find anything that would cover a tank failure.

I'm so sorry to hear that! As previously said... just be thankful you were home! Best of luck with the clean up and restorations.

My tank is like 15 years old...
I ended up moving all my rock and few lil CUC critters into the bathtub... Bucketed a bunch of water from the leaking tank into the tub.. Tossed my heater and power heads in there too to keep it all alive till I got home from work...
Then after work I went to wally world "Walmart" and got a 50 gallon tote and transfered everything into that.... It's pretty deformed right now.. So I have a few ratchet straps holding it together untill I cam get another tank.. Or fix this one..

Ends up.. My girlfriends mom has a 150 gallon tank in their garage... Unsure if it holds water or not.. But will know more this weekend..

Also.. Petco is having their 1 dollar a gallon tank sale... Of course they don't have any 75 gallon tanks available... Thsts the biggest tank you can buy in the sale..
So my options will be.. 2 55 gallon tanks and a 55 gallon sump all linked together... Or 2 or 3 40 gallon breeders linked with a 40 or 55 gallon sump..
So I've Got some thinking to do... Either way... The initial panic attack is gone.. I'm an United States Marine... I will overcome And a Phenix will rise..

Where are you at now? I've got a 93 cube and a 120 that are empty, though the center brace is broken on the 120. I snagged it for a steal and plan in making it a sump.

I managed to keep 90% of my fish and other livestock and about 65% of my corals alive for a month is 10g, 20g, 40g and a big fed trough a friend loaned me. I had lots of water movement, almost no filtration. Do a lot of water changes. I know it's a PITA, but it will keep most of your stuff alive.

Good luck.
