Diamond Jack's 70g Cadlights Artisan II

Hey Mars gang. Just wanted to share my build since I know most of you. I decided to get a cadlights tank.

The tank came well packaged.

Here are the pipes it comes with. Basically a big durso type drain in the middle, a return, and a small emergency drain if you want to run the system as a herbie. Don't try modifying the setup unless you're ready to order some adaptors, because these pipes don't fit with american standard pipes fyi. I decided to run the durso and its dead quiet. No need for the herbie setup.

Here is a rundown of my setup

Cadlights 70 Artisan II 2015
Cadlights Piano Black stand
Cadlights sump

Vertex Omega 130 skimmer
Reef Keeper Lite
Ecotech mp40 and mp10
Tek 6 bulb t5 fixture
Tunze ato
Ehiem 1200 return pump
Ehiem Jager 150w heater
Bionic ESV salt

So in the end...

I'm very happy with the build quality of the tank and the sump. I have no complaints. Tank 10/10. Sump 10/10. The seems all look good, the overflow is super quite, the sump is super clean looking. Its the best you can get without jumping up to an elos or a super nice custom tank.

The stand is sturdy and the paint job is good, but there are raised spots where every nail has been put around the stand, so it looks like it has a bunch of little bumps all around the stand. It seems like this could have easily been corrected when the stand was being build. I would contact cadlights, but to me it would be more trouble than it is worth. I'd rate the stand about 7.5/10

Anyways, got everything transferred over from the 58 and put about 40 gallons of fresh salt water in. Everything is happy. All fish made it. Life is good. Big thanks to Jessie for helping me for like 9 hours getting everything setup and transferred over. I would have been in trouble without his help. Also thanks to Rob for letting me borrow his qt tank and setup to mix salt in.

Looks great! I have the 50 gal Cadlights and have to agree that the plumbing was a bit odd.

If you ever redo your plumbing the smaller bulkheads fit inside sch 40 3/4 inch PVC and sch 40 1 inch PVC fits inside of the larger bulkhead. A little sanding/smoothing with a dremel and some PVC glue is all that is needed to convert to standard sized fittings.

Yeah, its strange how the diameter of the pipes is correct, but the inside of the pipes is too thick to match up with us pvc. Rob bought some adaptors for his 50. I'm pretty basic setup wise so I figured just roll with the stock setup. I'm just happy it isn't leaking and seems good to go.

Ok so 1 hour in I love this thing. Its going to replace the mp40 and the mp10 in my tank. It covers the entire tank with flow and its not harsh flow if set to a lower level.

I'm running Alternating gyre mode 20% power in forward and 50% in reverse and having it switch directions every 2 hours.

The forward mode is louder than reverse mode. At these settings its currently below an mp10 roughly. On the highest settings (70%+) its louder than an mp40. It would also start making acan frags slide around on the bottom of my tank. The pump may need some break in time to quiet down more. I already happy with it and think this is a real advancement in flow for our tanks.
