Diamond Jack's 70g Cadlights Artisan II

One FTS for the road. I'm blessed to be moving my family to a bigger house. I don't really think i'll have time for this tank for a bit, so i'm breaking it down and will most likely be starting a smaller aio tank build soon.

I have heard the durso is super loud on these tanks. You found the drain to be quiet right out of the box ? No mods needed ?

It was very quiet. Minimal water noise. If you want zero noise then you can go herbie. The gyre was louder than my overflow.

Hey Marius...I have the exact same Cadlights tank as you. Love this thing. I am thinking of dumping the skimmer (only thing I am not too impressed with) and going with a Vertex Omega 130. How do you like the skimmer?

I have this tank as well. Overflow is not the quietest ever but it is quiet. Tank is in my living room...it may get to me if it was in the bedroom

That skimmer is great bang for the buck. Well buildt and not very loud. It does the job well.

Glad its nice and quiet. What return pump are you running ?
Interested to see how you got it so quiet

Ok I picked up my friends cadlights 70g and will be setting it up in a few weeks once I get back from a work trip. He was running a 900gph pump. Im hoping to improve his plumbing to quiet it down. Do you have more pics of your plumbing ?

Hello

Did you have any issues with getting your return pump to hook up to the stock plumbing?

Thank you in advance.

If I remember correctly you will need an adaptor fitting between the pump and hose. I had an extra fitting from somewhere that I used. The stock return barbed fittings aren't big enough to fit the hose tightly.

Late to the party but that was a beautiful tank. Had you considered the SC Aquariums or other systems at the time of purchase?

Thanks. I considered pretty much everything out and went with cadlights. It was a really solid setup. If I do it again, I may go elos if I can get one. But for the price, you can't go wrong with the cadlights.

I have pretty much the same tank, gyre and all. Great setup and I am very happy with it for the past year. I did look at SC and talked to them a few times. In the end, more people had reviews on the Cadlights tanks but SC does seem like a good product. The only complaint I have about the cadlights package is the skimmer. Not great...replaced it with an Omega 130
