Diary of my LiL 40 Gallon Breeder(Intense)

After some careful consideration I picked myself up a Konica/Minolta Dimage Z20 5 megapixel digicam with an 8X optical zoom. Throughout the course of the night I'll be posting pics taken with the new camera- especially some nice macro shots. All of the pics were taken with the camera settings pretty much stock out of the box. All of the pics were taken at night, and the flash was used in the majority. Some of the macro shots were taken at as far as 6 feet from the tank.

I'm still deciding on whether to keep this cam. From the review sites, I might be able to find a camera with a superior lense and extra levels of zoom for around the same price.

You folks decide:

Looks nice John, but here's a few ideas. Take the shots with your lights on, and then use the white balance (the one where you point at whatever you want to shoot, then press ok or something, and it auto balances it for that photo). Then you can get the nice color it actually looks to us!

Oh, and don't use flash. Well I don't use flash, flash always makes everything brown and washed out.

...way too much fun....my girlfriend couldn't get the cam outta my hands..:)

Tyler, thanks, I'll try that. All the lights were on, but even so at night, especially from distances, the flash helps.

Check out how blue that Xenia looks..:)

So what does everyone think of the overall quality of the pics?
Like I said, I wish it had a super macro mode..

Well my Crocea looks really annoyed today. I left the lights running too long on Tuesday, and the tank hit 85. The Crocea kept the back of his mantle into his shell until I corrected the tank temp.

Today he's still not opening fully, and the back of his mantle looks...hmmm...aggitated. I noticed some "bubbling" on the underside of his mantle. I'm not entirely sure, but it may just be actual air bubbles. The venturi attachement on one of my powerheads was creating an awful lot of bubbles, and I think this was annoying him as well.

Hopefully I've corrected everything.

My new clam needs to be moved- I think the flow is aggitating him.

Unfortunately, I'm at work till 7am, so I can't really monitor things tonight...:(

Thank you dchemist. Hey I had meant to ask you, do you have problems getting those REALLY tight macro shots with your Z2?

The one thing the Z20 lacks with the 8X optical is that extra level of zoom- or a super macro mode...
