Did I do good... Or mess up bad?

Went to the lfs.. Just a lil family owned shop to get some live rock... 50 bucks worth..
Owner informed me that the rock he got was infested with bristle worms... But he used bristle worm exit to get rid of them.. Gave me an amazing discount... I ended up with close to 100 lbs of rock for 50 bucks... Did I do good... Or bad cuz of the treatment.. I will add some pictures to show off my set up.. 150 gallon tall tank.. Live sand.. Hawaiian black stuff... I already had bout 8 lbs of rock in the tank and the tank itself running about 6 weeks now

Bristleworms aren't an infestation: they're an asset. They adjust their numbers to the food source. But yes, go ahead and use the rock. I'd tub it for a while to see if anything else turns up---hopefully some worms will have survived. But there could also be problematic crabs, etc.

Any thoughts or concerns.. I am all ears

I found one worm that was weak in the bottom of the tote after I put all the rock in... And a lil critter.. Looked lil a lil white flea or something... The critters from in the rocks.. I put both in the tank..
There were ALOT of dead ones in the lfs for sale live rock tank... Some big ones..
I seen quite a few stuck to the rock I put in the tank... Dunno if they were alive or not tho :(

I had read some of your post about the bristle worms... I was actually hoping for some... These all looked like the fireworm pictures you posted in the good and bad hitchhiker thread sk8ter... I was hoping for bristle stars and worms... But couldn't pass this deal up

Also.. Do you think my wave maker/power heads are in good spots? They are at the top corners facing front and center of the tank

Fire worms are not good. And I think you're good on placement, but I'd aim one low, to keep the bottom clean.
That looks like good rock. Treat it gently, good temperatures, good chemistry, and if you can, hold it in another tank until you see what crawls about. The little bug was probably an amphipod, a good guy.

i only have this one tank at the moment.. so it was all in and cross my fingers lol.. i am just glad to know that him using that treatment didnt kill the rock or the lil guys inside... he had about 100 more lbs i coulda got for another 60 bucks... im kicking myself for not having the extra money this week... im going back on payday and buying the rest... there was alot of branch live rock in there too

do you know what those lil orange spounges are that popped out of the rock??

both power heads are rated at 1200 gph each
both are slightly pointing downward too... the lil black rocks of the subsitrate move around a lil bit.... they have some power behind them for sure

I think you did good because it is cheaper than dry rock. Worse case scenario, you can nuke it.

Top of the water and the whole column has alot of movement... 2 1200gph wave makers at the surface.. Pointing front and center and slightly downwards... along with my filter outlet that is half in and half out of the water.. Pushing 450 GPH.. That breaks the surface 3/4 of the way across the tank for gas transfer..

It's Prolly because my phones camera is a potato and take horrible pic tug honestly

And I have a layer of allege on the surface of the glass.. You can see where I wiped a bit w my finger while aquascaping lol... Time for a glass cleaning..

I see what you are talking about... My one photo makes the water look really cloudy up high... That is the glass itself... My tank is 15 years old.. I've tried cleaning it when it was dry... Razor blade.. And a vinegar mixture I read about... But some spots of the glass are stained or something and just won't clear up

Regardless of the quality of the rock you bought, you need to work on aquascaping. As your first picture shows, you have it piled around the back and side walls with almost no chance of water movement behind it, much less providing places for fish to swim through or hide/sleep. I try to keep at least a couple inches between any rock and the glass to help promote good circulation.

As for power head placement - you will be better served by pointing them up towards the surface. The lion's share of oxygen exchange occurs at the surface of the tank. The water surface should be in constant motion. Move them down a few inches and angle them up for better results.

The surface is broken up pretty good by my filter outlet.. I deff understand what you mean.. But with my tank height.. If I was to angle them up.. It would cause the flow at the bottom to really slow down..
My aquascaping isn't finished yet.. I still need about 70 more lbs of rock.. I should be getting all that in the next couple weeks.. So for now it's just in there while I ponder how I want it..
I have alot of rock.. I'm not exactly sure how I am gonna set it all up in there honestly

I found something in one of the live rock holes... I can't get a picture... But it looks like a tiny lil clear hot dog.. Maybe an egg of some sort... I really wish I could get a picture of it

About the LPS
I really didn't think about that when I got this substrate... It's almost like a lava rock... But when I move it with my hands... It's not super sharp... It is kind of weathered so to speak
