Did I kill my frogspawn? or does it have a chance

Im such an idiot and made a huge novice error... I poured the remaining poorly disolved salt water contents of a pitcher into my tank and thought nothing of it until the next morning. It was only about a cup of water but lots of undissolved salt.

My frogspawn went from a healthy multi headed specimen to a withering to-the-bone coral.

I took this photo if anyone can let me know if it has any chance to come back. the outer portion if all the heads is still intact but all the tentacles are severely injured and receded.

Didn't dawn on me until today that I must have burned the heck out of it. Sad day for this lttle guy who started as a one branch frag 3 years ago to a 7 branched impressive frogspawn.

Argggh!!!! Sorry frogspawn

How bad can a frogspawn be and still be able to repair itself? If I can see the blades beneath does it even have a chance?

Thanks everyone

It can still grow. One of my hammers died horribly due to being injured, punctured and soon succumbed to brown jelly. Left the skeleton in the tank and it soon sprouted new baby hammers. Don't give up on it yet!

Seems to me your first priority should be working your tank back to normal salinity.

Then I'd address the frogspawn. Iodine dip to prevent dreaded brown jelly is a good idea. However I'd be tempted to wait a bit, as iodine dips can be stressful and your frogspawn has already suffered a large stress. Personally I'd wait til after restoring normal salinity. Any sign of BJD and I'd dip it right away regardless.

I had the same thing happen to a much lesser degree when a clump of salt (salt creep) dropped into the tank when i was removing the lighting. The salt contact immediately burned the tissue and the whole colony retracted for several days. I thought mine was a goner as i couldn't even see tissue. But it recovered eventually (i did lose 1 head). Your coral is still alive as you can see tissue - I would not do a dip unless you see brown jelly or bacteria growth. The dip adds stress to the coral - the best thing for its is maybe a bit of increased flow and letting it recover (I am assuming it was in good shape before)

Happened to me too!!! And new heads formed as well

Frogspawn back to 100% and then some. Definitely must have been from pouring the salt on it. In a matter of a week it made a full recovery and looks even fuller and better now...maybe even an extra head or two.

Thanks everyone for the advice and help
