difference in diet

What's the difference between what a cleaner shrimp and a cleaner wrasse eats? Is it pretty much the same thing, or are they completely different? Cleaner being the operative word here. The shrimp seems to adapt to eating whatever prepared foods we offer, not so much with the wrasse though.

Thanks.

Most shrimps are scavengers and will eat whatever they need to survive. Fish on the other hand are very different. They do eat similar parasites in the wild, but shrimp will also eat dead skin from fish. Some people have had success with cleaner wrasses as well. I have not done any research or had much experience with wrasse so I can not comment on it. You can search here to see if you can meet the wrasses needs to care for them.

No, I've tried a wrasse in the past and it didn't last to long. It just wouldn't eat. There was a similiar thread in another forum and I was just curious whether or not the diets were that far off, or is it just that the cleaner wrasse happens to be extremely picky when it comes down to eating.

Thanks.

On occasion we get cleaner wrasse at the pet store I work at that will eat live brine shrimp which we have in stock all the time so we feed that along with a cocktail of frozen foods ranging from frozen brine to angel cuisine and everything in between daily. So over time if the wrasse doesn't sell it adapts to eating frozen foods. We had 2 in about a month and a half ago that were there for a month and were eating only frozen by then. They were both in tanks with tangs and also "cleaned" them regularly
