Digging triggers

I had a Niger trigger and all he did was dig in my crushed coral gravel. He just moved it from one side of the tank and back again all the time. Do all triggers do this or was he just a malcontent? I had live rock in the tank for him to hide and wedge himself in there overnight, which he did.

I have had an Undulated Trigger for about 4 years now. Whenever I do any kind of landscaping in the tank, the trigger will move everything around that night. She will take sand in its mouth and build tunnels under the live rock. She will also move any small pieces of live rock if she didnt like where I put them.

Great looking trigger by the way!

Jim,
See I like the fact that my trigger decorates to her own accord. I always joke and tell my friends that is why I got a female Undy so that she would keep the tank clean ;)
Anyway thanks for the comments, get some pics of your trigger on here!

My beast of a Lei trigger (Hawaiian Bursa, true Bursa) has dug tunnles under the lr in the tank to provide places to hide. Its covered the tank decorations with sand, but it looks good. Its kept the sand from growing algae, so it stays whiter. I think its fun to watch him rearrange. BTW, how do you tell if a trigger is female?

I don't have a trigger at this time. I'm just getting started with marine aquaria again, but I have a feeling I will probably have another one in the future.
