Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

That's strange. I emailed them that I wanted to buy one got a response in about 10 minutes time asking what time I was available for a call. I told them and they were right on time. Paid and shipped the next day.
Yep, I've seen that happen too. I've even gotten really close to them shipping one and on the phone with them only to get some excuse last second.

I just noticed the email I got yesterday to call some non-800 number was not from digital Aquatics but had a domain in the email from @dynoninstruments.com

So, I'm not sure if this is legit? Can anyone here confirm because if not people need to look out for this potential phishing scam.

Never got a call back. Next time I tried I called and was told more were going to be in stock in a couple days with power bars.... Never got a call back or a person on the phone when I called and left a message. It went on like that a couple more times and I gave up. They can keep the $15 if they want. Wish it would go to compensation for their top beta testers and non employee forum support people.

Since some of the people working for DA also do work for Dynon and vice versa, I would guess that it is just a case of not paying attention to which email server the message defaults to. Its no big deal but I can see how it could be confusing.

So I would like to have my archon email me when my top of water reservoir is at a low level. What's my best way to do this? Equipment and programming advice plz.

Get Float Switch mounted in ATO with Normally open contacts.
Add to inputs via Archon switch inputs, maybe call it ATO LOW. (look at DA forum there is pinout and suggestions)
Set Alarm for ATO LOW switch. Trip point 0.5, Trip when low, select email as alert type and save.
Also, you can plug your ATO into the powerblock and use this alarm to shut it off as well.

Gablett,
If you want you can check out the alarm settings on mine that use float switches. That would be the low level and over full sensors. Just use the infomation i sent you previously go get access. Once you have tha alarm setup you can also use it to stop the ATO until it is filled. I do not have a switch on the ATO yet but do ahve plans to add one. At this time it will go several weeks between refills. I just dont have any alarms set to email at this time.

FYI on the float switch make sure and seal off the area where the wires enter the switch. They may look sealed but i found out that is not the case.

Yes, that will work. I actually have the same one in my ATO. There are cheaper options, but this is easily adjustable and the float switch is of decent quality. On the float, you simply unclip and turn over to change from Normally Open to Normally Closed or vice versa.

Ok, thanks. I l'll get one coming. Can someone walk me through programming it? Which port does it plug into?

I want it to email me when it is at a low level.

Do you have an SL module. If so that kit should have the wiring to plug it into one of thr switch ports. If you are going to use one of the switch ports on the Archon itself you will need to inteface with one of the switch ports on one of the IO plugs. DA make a module called the IOE specific for this purpose. All you need is to CAT 5 cables to hook the Archon to the IOE. The outputs or inputs to and from thr IOE or push terminals. With it you don't need the wire harness with the Molex plug.

Yea your speaking greek lol. I have an SL1 if that helps.

That will work. That kit should have every thing you need. All you have to do is create an alarm on the system page. Use the input port you plug the switch into as the input of thr alarm. You will have to know if the float trigger on or off when low. You can find that out watching the input on the Archon when toggling it up and down. If it it on when down then you will trip when below. If off then trip when above. Use .5 as the setpoint. If you still have the access info to my system I have two alarms set using float switches one for over full and one for low level. These are for the sump but the settimgs are no different. You will want to set the flag to send the email.

Next question. I just got an ORP probe. On the archon unit how do you make one port ORP and one port PH or is that not possible?

There are little switches between the ports. You set each port individually. I believe up is ORP, down is Ph.

Then you need to check the "Set Port to ORP mode" on the Port setup on the Inputs page.

So I did the calibration with the solution it came with and let it soak for 30 minutes. Its been in teh tank about 15 minutes and it has gone from 175 to now 164. That seems super low. Is that normal?
