Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Another thing to try is to power down everthing and power it back up. I did have to do that once when i got hardware ver 1.01.1. It came back after the power up.

Yes this will also do the trick. If your unit is fine, it will be okay after n2585722's recommendation or mine. Please follow the instructions I gave with the refresh of the page. I will talk to Eric about changing the return message on that. Some of the commands do have proper return info, but most do not. Sorry I did not include that in my instructions, I guess it slipped my mind

So, I hope this is ok with the mods here at RC. I am going to start to do some how to videos on the Archon. Basically to help explain some of the funtcions and how to program this device. This thread has become somewhat of support thread and I know that the Beta testers that are here will do our best to help any user with their system.

Keep in mind that our systems are live on our tanks so simulating some scenarios may be more difficult. and YES, I plan to do some videos on updating the Software, hardware and web pages.

anyways, here are two videos for you guys that I made. Nothing fancy, just screen captures of the system.

Page by page run through of the Archon.

How to use the Multicontroller Function
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP-rHpeDSD0

More to come as I get time to make them.

Very nice Lindsey! I was wondering about the mulit-controller! now I know!

yea, it is a pretty cool feature that can be a bit difficult to explain. Honestly I forget it is even there.

I am tying mine to an alarm that trips when I reboot or power back up my system so that it turns on my Analog ports for a brief period to get the board re-synced with the signals. Keep in mind that if you use this for the Analogs and PWM, when they turn on, it is 100% power. Not to your max.

From what I have seen online it reacts quite quickly to any changes. When I am programming it I pull it out and blow on it so that its good and dry and give it a minute or two and then take the reading. Remember it is temperature adjusted from the SL 2 temperature probe so you need to make sure that they are both in the same area so that you get a proper calibration.

Then when I put it into the salinity calibration solution I make sure that my temperature probe is there as well and give it a couple of minutes till it doesn't move

Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Ya, they do ans getting better all the time. I can say that the last release is great and with the cloud coming very soon, this will be awesome. Granted they released too early, but right now i love the Archon. I have had Apex and Reef keeper elite by the way

I have read this whole thread! Omg does the manufacture help at all? I was going to try but??????
Some of us that are helping are Team DA members along with being beta testers. Team DA members are choosen by Digital Aquatics for their experince with their controllers and their willingness to help in this way. We are not employees of Digital Aquatics but do have access to Digital Aquatics if needed. I think that it is better to get help from someone that is actually using the controllers that is an actual hobbiest. Team DA members have been using DA controllers for several years. If you check on the DA forums it will note which ones are the Team DA members when they post. It is probably not hard to figure out which ones of us on this thread are Team DA members. If there is something that we are unable to help with we will let you know to contact DA support. Eric who does work for Digital Aquatics has posted in this thread from time to time.

Danny said it well. The team da folks have and use the systems every day. Chances are, we have seen the issue you may have. I am trying to do a video for just about every archon function that I use or anyone might use. I don't have every module at my fingertips but I have alot. The archon basically encompasses everything offered by da and wraps it into a very easy interface.

I wanted one for christmas last year and am still very glad I have it.

I am very disappointed in the Archon, or the PC4, or the combination of the two of them working together. I have been away from home for over a week and wont be back for a few more days, and I noticed that my PC4 has become an input instead of output AGAIN. I thought this issue was addressed because it hasn't happened in a while, but I guess not. The result of this is that my skimmer is not working and wont be until I get back to reset the PC4. I noticed a new update was available but I'm not about to attempt that from a remote location.

Cardinalfish, this again is some thing none of the beta testers have ever seen. I think your pc4 is at fault here.

Sounds like the loss of communication issue maybe. I can tell you that the newest updates have solved a LOT and I am running much like my RKE did. Skimmer down for a day or so won't hurt ..... really. Definitely update to the latest stuff and I think you will be happy. I will admit, I have had my fill of issues, but the latest stuff seems to be very nice and the cloud is just around the corner.

Hang in there, I have and I am starting to be happy I did.

I really am trying to keep the faith. I just cant help but think about what problems I might have if I had some of the more important equipment on the PC4, like heaters, main pump, ATO, etc. I don't see that the cloud is going to help these problems, I can already see whats going on. We need to have a way to remotely reset things like the PC4, or the Archon itself.

I think I had this happen once on me a while back. I started with clean files and have not had a problem since. You may want to start with clean files once you get back. I also connected the modules one at a time the first time. That way I got them in the order I wanted them on the Archon. I have 6 PC4's and they are working correctly except for one has no amperage readback but that was an issue on the RKE also for that PC4.
