Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

DA has alienated there customers for years and elmexotics post about they will be on another form shortly. It's been 10 months. A little slow are we. This goes to show the lack of support is still imbedded in the company. They have a lot of work to do to turn their image around.

While I am not going to sit here and claim that support has not been lacking, (especially in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with DA support) I will say that the above statement is extraordinarily misleading. I believe what Eric is saying is that they have been trying to remedy this with RC for a long while now. There is no rush to be on another forum when they have their own.

It would sure be nice if the DA bashing would stay out of threads that clearly were not started for that purpose.

Let me say that I still use the RKE and have been for over 6 years. So when I read this thread and see post from you and eric on why DA is still not on any other forum I had to say something.
What I said was not misleading and was the truth. I even said that unless you can get in touch with Eric there is no paid support. The only person at DA that is doing anything for support is Eric. I wanted to check to see if support has changed because I want to upgrade my RKE head unit to the Archon once all the kinks are worked out so I called them 3 times Thursday. Guess what? No one answered the phone. Also other companies are on their own forum and many other forums. RC is not the only forum. Also didn't you post the below information over 10 months ago? It doesn't take 10 months to straighten out billing if your serious about being on this or another forum.

A little update in regards to the DA support forum here on RC going away. As I suspected, it is merely a billing issue and will be resolved as soon as the accounting folks at DA can get a hold of accounting folks here at RC. I am sure it will be resolved in a few days.

Agree. There are vendor feedback forums for giving personal opinions or just open another thread instead of derailing this one. I tried to politely step out of this thread a while ago so as not to derail it but have given my opinions else where.

I'm still following this thread as I really do hope the Archon's full capabilities are reached and I'm interested in what they are.

I did post that and that is what I was told the problem was when I asked someone at DA about it. I know of several people who have had little to no response from RC on a number of issues, so when Eric says that they have been trying for 10 months I believe him. I doubt that he has been calling them every day, but I know that they do not respond very quickly. People wondered why their support section wasn't here on RC anymore and Eric gave the answer. You may not believe him, but that is what is going on.

Either way this thread is about the Archon not DA's support issues.

Honestly I prefer they have only one forum and that is on their site. There are two many forums and one forum actually has more sponsors than RC even though it is still smaller. So now you need 3 forums ... I prefer they have thier own or just pick one and drop their own forum, one is plenty.

But Dave I disagree this has everything to do with the Archon.. Support is a big issue when people make a decision on buying a controller.

It is nice they have people like you that know the controller in and out and help out. But support is very lacking and one guy can not do it all..

He cant keep up with engineering, questions, updates, answering the phone etc. The controller will go no where because they wont have new modules because he aint got the time which will mean they slip farther behind the rest of the industry. IF DA don't put more resources, commitment and manpower behind the Archon it is dead in the water. One guy can not do it all and it probably has to be frustrating for him trying so hard and then has to read posts like this. I feel sorry for the guy.

For most buying the Archon it is the biggest hold back. I think for people like me that really want one it is supper frustrating that we don't see any commitment to change the situation when it is a giant issue. Is this something that they do not know about? I bet hiring one person would create a surge in sales because we see them trying to rectify the problem. If they can not afford to hire someone to help out well that tells us allot already.

My opinion has changed from excitement and thinking they would be back to the large position they had in the market to this is only going to sell to a handful of people and be gone.

It is true too I was so excited and told one manufacturer to make their units compatible with the Archon/RK because it was going to take a huge market share. They wanted me to beta test the unit. I only have the lite so I couldn't but they wanted me to do it when I got my Archon. Now I worry if they will even be in the hobby now.

I am not the only one that feels this way and DA needs to know about it to solve the problem..

I thought that a while ago and jumped ship because of this pink elephant in the room. And here we are, a year later and an elephant can eat. Yeah, Eric's got it rough, and so do Dave and Danny and Ken having to pick their pieces. But hey the PB8 may come out soon, and kick the elephant down the road.

Is it just me or are some posts being deleted in this thread? I was sure I saw some information that DA was putting more resources on the Archon and that there is a another update coming soon. Seems unfair because the information was encouraging and insightful.

We remove posts that violate our UA and in this case, the commercial posting provisions of that agreement. I realize that a vendor is posting information that you consider helpful, but everyone has to abide by the same rules...sponsor or not.

I just received my Archon. It did not ask me for my wireless info on the initial setup. It just asked for a username and password. I used the default, which worked. But now, how do I get it to talk to my network so I don't have to keep switching networks? The screens are slightly different than the user manual - there is a spot for 'myReef cloud iD' which I am wondering about. I tried to reset it but I'm not sure if it did. There's also a 'Restore' option on the system tab, which I could try but thought I'd get some guidance first.
Software version is: 1.09.41.
Hardware version is: 1.08.10

It sounds like your browser is not accepting the forward to the setup page. Try navigating to http://192.168.10.1/index.ap.html and it should take you to the white set up page to allow you to input your SSID and information. If you have the latest set of files it should also allow you to put in your email address so good it will send you the IP once on the network.

press the reset button for 5-7 seconds, then look for the Archon network in your wireless networks. Connect to it and enter 192.168.10.1. This should take you to the setup page.

How can I change the units for the graphs? Por ejemplo, the iTemp graph is showing in some unit that I don't recognize, starting at 1000 and topping out above 5000.

The units for graphing should be automatically adjusted based upon the data that the device inputs. You have the eye temp probe plugged into the proper port?

Yes. And it reads in F, but graphs in randomness. The graph is functional, not sure what is up with the units.

Try going to the graph webpage and to the iTemp port. Then select delete. It should then reset the min/max of the graph. Just give it some time since the old data was erased.

I give up for the night. Trying to get the pH probe to calibrate - pretty sure I wasted the calibration fluids, because the raw data reads 1 point difference between the 2. I'll try again in the morning. Any ideas?
