Digital Aquatics Archon Owners Thread

Thanks! I previously had issues even getting through the setup page, I had to redownload and install the firmware, so last night I finally got logged in after midnight and didn't get a chance to really play with it with any modules or probes connected, I was happy I was finally in and called it a night lol. Hopefully tonight I'll get everything up and running.

Some things are different on the Archon such as timers. On a timer if it is not a ramping output leave some time off on the timer. I think the default is 1 minute. If it is a ramp output make sure the time off is longer than the ramp time or the output will not reach the minimum you select.

I'm trying to set this up now and running into questions. On the virtual channel should the function be timed controller? Then there is no input, create new timer, start time is 05:00:00, on for 04:30:00, what do I set to off for if I just want it to run once per day? How about repeat x times? Do I check continue forever? I imagine I do want on at night? Then channel default shouldn't matter to be on or off should it?

The off time should have at least some time. For this 1 minute should be OK, repeat 0 and continue forever unchecked. Also default is what you want the outlet to do if there is no comunication with the head unit. In this case that should not happen, but I would leave it off. Use the multitimer function on the output. Just setup one of the three timer slots with the timer you setup.

For those of you having graphing issues, please shut down your Archon. Pull the USB drive and check it for errors with your PC. make sure it is not read only. then put it back in and fire the archon back up starting with the Power cord before connecting the buss to it. Please let me know what happens.

Can you show me how you did this? I am having the same issue with reverse pwm

I have a writeup somewhere on another site with photos. Let me see if I can find it for you.

Logn and short, you need an arduino board to take analog signals from the archon and convert them into a reverse PWM. There is a guy on here who makes these boards and he made me one with a reverse programming from standard.

Let me see what I can dig back up and Ill PM it to you.

Thank you again, I'll take a look tonight and see if I can get this set up. I was just happy I managed to get the pump and solenoid running last night :lmao:

Thanks. I just finally got time to investigate mine last night and my particular issue was that the 'logs' folder was missing from the 'www' folder on the drive. I couldn't tell you why, but as soon as I recreated the 'logs' folder things are working again.

I'm not sure if the upgrade caused this or my own carelessness.

Dolomiteclay, I left a message on the beta site for Eric about your issue.

This is what I just got from them. I guess in the computer programming world this is elementary but quite honestly this is two days in a row now that I have left early (much to the chagrin of my boss) with no results.

Notes for install

/cp /mnt/sda1/openwrt-nov12.bin /tmp
cd/tmp
mtd write openwrt-nov12.bin

restart

/etc/init.d/fstab restart

/mnt/sda1/load.sh

Were there other instructions with this? That looks like linux commands. You would need to telnet it torun them. You may want to make sure before trying them. Hopefully you can phone him or have him phone you as to exactly how you need to do this.

That was the entire body of the message. May as well be Chinese.....

Are you using a computer, iPad or table to connect? You will need the software to comunicate with the Archon via telnet.

I am not a Mac guy but what you will need to do is get a telnet client for your Mac. Open that up and tell that to the IP address of the archon. From there it will give you a command prompt where you will enter each line of the code that was sent to you.

I have done this particular code on my system before. basically what you were doing is copying the open wrt from your flash drive over to the internal systems of the arc on. Then in the second step you are having the archon flash that installer. After that you are restarting the system to boot into the freshly flashed system. Then you are starting another program to bring the archon completely up and running.

If you are not comfortable working with the back in with these kind of steps please let Eric know. He will get time with you to do a remote session and do these things for you.

That seems easy enough. I basically just download telenet, enter the IP address of my archon and then enter the codes? I'll give it a shot. He didn't say so, but I'm assuming that I will need to download all of the files that he attached with the email to the flash drive prior to doing all of this?

I would think that those are clean files for the flash drive. It may not be all the files on the drive. You may want to back up the drive to a folder on the computer before you copy the files to the drive.

Well I copied everything and it fired up. I have spent the last couple of hours calibrating my probes and setting all the timers up etc. I think that it is working pretty well.

Thank you very much for all your help. Apparently I didn't even have to download telenet since mac's already have the program installed.
