I figured out what is happen to my corals and anemones. My coralife thermometer was bad off on temp.Bought a new one for my 120 and the temp is showing 93.4.The other one was showing 76.9.I didn't think my water was that hot.So hopefully it will get better for as me be able to grow corals.Useing ice cubes to bring the temp down. :eek1:

HOLY CRAP!
and on a similar note, i just replaced my thermometer as I thought my temps were sitting a little high (83 average) but it turns out it is actually sitting at 79.

i have a lab grade analog thermo that i use every couple of months to makke sure my digital stuff is calibrated right.

When I make it back to memphis I will get one.The tank is now at 87.I was wondering why all my corals were bleaching,I was cooking them.I am going to replace the battery in the bad thermometer to see if it makes it right.

The digital therms are terrible. Even if you replace the battery they are not accurate. No two will read the same. I gave up and started using the glass thermometers.

I have one of those stick on thermometers from wal-mart on my nano, I think it is better than a digital.Which glass thermometer are you useing.

I am using the reefkeeper2 digital one and so far no issues. Man if it gets out of whak I'm screwed as it controls the heaters and fans too.

So you know your old coralife thermometer is bad because your new caralife thermometer tells you so? 93 degrees would be noticeably warm - literally like bathwater. It would be difficult to get a tank that hot at this time of year without a major heater malfunction IMO. Do yourself a favor and verify your actual temperature with something more reliable before you go too crazy with the ice cubes.

I bought a glass thermometer from wal-mart.It is showing 82 to 83,the new digital is showing 83.4.So the glass one will be in my sump so I don't have to chase it down.I will keep the digital in the display.

my 2 tanks have the cheap lil glass tube thermometers w/ the suction cups....one tank shows 74 & the other shows 77 & i can actually feel the difference when moving my hand from one to the other.

my freshwater heater stuck awhile back & i noticed the hot air from the water when i was feeding the fish & it was only reading 84ish, so i'd think a 90+ temp would be easily noticed

I knew was warm, but not like that.I figured it around 83 to 84,but when I bought a new themometer it was alot warmer than I thought. It is running 80.4 at the moment.I didn't think a digital would have been that far off.

At one time I had 3 of those Coralife digitals. i put them all in the tank at one, and They were all different from each other. Like 5 degrees difference from the lowest one the the highest on one of the others. I got a Tropic Marin high end glass thermometer from Memfish and calibrated my ReefKeeper 2 with it, and it It has been accurate since. Those digital are junk. I would recommend some kind of good ole glass thermometer to see a more realistic temp.
