I have 3 good size digi frags that have been growing like crazy with good pe ever since I put them in my tank. I have them about 12 inches down from my 4 bulb t5 unit and with a good amount of flow on them. My question is why when the lights first come on (2 bulbs) the color is a deep purple but when all the bulbs click on only the top third has that deep purple?

what kind of bulbs are you running.

Probably because the first bulbs are blue bulbs which bring out the purples more then when you turn on the daylight it equalls less purple. If you want something to bring out the colors more check out the t5 q and a thread and Im sure there are all types of combos for what you want
