digitata encrusting growth

I've had 3 larger (3-4" now) purple digi that have great vertical growth, but have shown no signs of encrusting at the base. They have been in the same spot roughly a month and a half, in a higher flow area of the tank. I also acquired several more sps about two weeks ago and they are already showing encrusting, is this normal for digi? I've seen a lot of encrusting from other threads and online sites selling them, I assumed I'd see some type of encrusting at this point.

My red does the same thing, my green encrusts all over the place first then grows up. Probably normal, depends on the circumstance I guess.

I'm really not all that worried since i'm getting great growth, but it struck me as odd since it is in direct flow of the pumps, I always thought they would encrust first in an area like that.

Have the same issue with my blue. I am concerned that when it gets too big it will fall off the rock.

This is the only thing that bugs me about it, i've got them pretty secure now but they've fallen once in the past and my turbo's don't seem to care if they knock a frag out of the way.

Stronger light and flow can help them base. You can also glue them down horizontal to encourage this.
