Dimming older ATI T5 Powerbalk

Please advice what I need for dimming 2x80W T5 ATI PowerBalk (manufactured approx. in 2003 ). I wasn't able to google more specific information about the T5 controller . I just know that the lamp is dimmable with ATI's own controller.

Thanks in advance, Kimmo

Thanks AQD_ottawa.

I read from the Internet that dimming interface standards demands the dimmers to be quite robust. Encouraged from this I made some tests with the dimmer.

I found out that there is a 14 volt potential difference between the to controllines and applying +/-5 volts to them does nothing.

When I put a ~100ohm resistor between the controllines, I achived to dimm the lamp to the minum. (Dimming took some 45 minutes) When the resistor was removed, the lamp brightened up in ~5 minutes.

I gather that my lamp does not have the 1-10V interface. Does anybody identify what type of interface my lamp has so I might be able to make an adapter for it.

Hi

some time ago ATI had a so called "easy dimm" lamp.
Basically this is a lamp with a 1-10V-ballast and an additional capacitor.

-> if you remove this capacitor you have a lamp with a standard 1-10V-interface!

Thanks Matthias for solving my problem, that's exactly what I have!
