Hey everyone, I'm still around, just been lurking for a while. I had to stop participating, because the urge to build was too strong. My business has been doing very well (woot!) and I haven't had time to focus on anything but my company. Well, I have managed to get a good system in place, so that I'm not always running 100 miles per minute.

So, in the voice of Bruce Buffer....IT'S TIME!
I got a really good deal on some LR that I couldn't pass up. So, now I am finally setting up that 26g nano. I don't want to do anything bigger right now, because we are probably moving within 6 months. We are looking at a farm in Sardinia with 19 acres and at the same time, my inlaws may have to move out of their home, and if that happens, we will be buying it. Everything is kind of up in the air with those two houses right now, so the nano is the only tank that can happen at this time.

I'm going out in a little while to get a tank for the sump. I should have the tank running by tonight to start the cycle. I will post some pics once it's going.

Hey Ryan! Happy to hear the business is doing well AND that the 26g will be up and running. PM me if you need a lil tank for a sump.

Can't wait to see this setup!

I'm trying to figure out what pump to get for my return. Its a 26g tank / 20g sump with one overflow. I am running one inch hose and I have about 3' of return line. No elbows. I'm thinking a mag5 (500gph). I do have the ball valve to back it down if needed.

Think that will work? Do I need to go bigger?

lol anybody got a mag 5-9.5? If not, Ill be getting one tomorrow. Im just cheap and I don't want to pay 80 bucks for a new one.

Well at this point, my hands are about done. I have been busy giving equipment a vinegar bath. I will be running up to ARC tomorrow after hunting. I still need to get a return pump, some tubing, a couple of bulbs, testing kits, and a few other things. I was thinking about it a while ago and this will be my 12th reef setup. That includes a breeding set up though.

This tank will basically be a display for a pair of Picasso Percula Clowns. I don't plan on doing any SPS. It will of course have a nem. Most likely an RBTA, but I may go for a bi-color bubble tip. As far as corals go, it will be softies and LPS.

A. I don't have the lighting for SPS.
B. I just like soft coral more. I like the movement.

Most of the LR will be in the sump. I don't like a crowded tank. Less is more in my opinion. The lighting is just dual 65w pc. It came with 4 LED moon lights, but Justin added an LED strip to it that has 24 lights. I am using good ol' aragalive sand. Although I occasionally get particles moving around, I have had really good results with it as apposed to crushed coral. Also not a fan of bare bottom tanks.

Justin, I saw the pics of your new kitchen. It looks great. You get any deer yet this season? So far I have only gotten a button buck, but I'm going out tomorrow..so fingers crossed.

Well, it's up and running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got it done about an hour ago. Unfortunately, the bulk head for the drain is leaking, so tomorrow I will have to empty it about half way, lift it out, and replace the seal. Otherwise, it looks great and I am pretty excited!

Very cool Ryan! I'm sure it's nice to have something setup again!

Sry I missed your last post...kitchen still has some odds and ends left but it's basically done, thx for the kind comments.

I've been picky all season in regards to hunting, but with the thought of having an empty freezer looming over me, I finally took a decent doe yesterday afternoon with the smokepole...tenderloins marinating already for chow tomorrow night!

After tomorrow, my freezer will be nice and full. We have a pig coming. A friend of the family had one of their breeders fall and break a leg. So since it's lame, they had to butcher it. We are getting it for 1.10 per lbs. Thats a whole lot of meat, real cheap. Although, the bacon costs a little more. I think it's 60 cents per pound to cure and smoke it. We should be getting about 30 lbs of bacon.

Tank seems to be coming along good so far, wish I had seen this thread a few weeks ago.I had an extra mag7 laying around.Sorry,to mention it now but in case you were still looking just thought Id thow it out there.

- Ive heard we have a wild boar population here in NY.From what I was told in Otisco Cty, a no limit /year round season.Haven't really looked into it but thats what Ive heard.

Ok, got the leaking bulk head replaced. I also had to cut the back of the stand out and extend it to fit the 20g sump. My fater in law built the stand for me, but my measurements were off. Width wise I was half an inch short. It's all done now though. I still plan on building the 20g into a refugium, unless I find a pre-built one that will fit. For a return pump I ended up buying a deep blue triton 3000. It's 850gph, but I have a ball valve to slow it down.

I stopped at that new store right over by ARC today. I think it's called buffalo coral reef. The owner seemed like a pretty nice guy and the place was very clean. I sure can't wait to start stocking my tank. I am pretty happy about having it running now though.
