Another really cool spot is about 1/2 mile south of marineland at low tide. Park at the Washington Oaks beachside parking lot and walk north on the beach. At low tide the rocks are exposed and tidal pools are formed trapping tons of critters including whelks, snails, blennies, anemones, urchins, crabs, etc. I don't collect anything from there but it is a great place to see critters in their natural environment. Must go at low tide. There is nothing to see at high tide. This is also a big sea turtle nesting ground so fish and wildlife patrol a lot on 4 wheelers during nesting season.
