Disassembling stream?

I'm trying to follow the instructions to clean my Tunze.

I have removed the magnet, and now have the grey sleeve, with a white head before the propellor.

From following the picture thread, I've squeezed what looks like the brake shoes, which allows the grey/black cover to be lifted, but after that I can't see how I release any other parts!

I can't see any bits at the bottom, the pics in the sticky show a red washer and another bit, and I also can't remove the propellor from the magnet!

I'm trying to set it all up tonight, so it can clean overnight and tomorrow morning before lights on, when the pumps increase their speed.

Any help much appreciated!

You remove the brake shoes by twisting until they pop out, they will come out and you will encounter reistance and if you twist more they pop out all the way. Then the shaft lifts off.

If I reference your picture, and number the parts 1 thru 6 starting at the left, then the impellor is number 6, the 2 shoes are number 5 and the shaft is number 3.

I am missing parts 1, 2 and 4!!!

I assume 1 and 2 are still in the body of my pump, how can I get them out, and where the heck is number 4??

1 is the magnetic rotor, I don't know how you could have gotten this far without having that out? 2 is the shaft, 3 is actually the bearing ring, not the shaft. 4 is the brake shoes, 6 is the small oring 7400.610, it is pushed down in a groove in the magnet to dampen noise and is not easily removed, nor does it need to be removed. I am using the illustration on page 36 of manual revision date 01/2006

Hi Roger,

Sorry for the persistance, but it's 11:15pm here and I'm trying to get it all soaking overnight!

I'm referring to the picture you posted in your thread on overheating and how to clean, I've numbered the bits from your origional picture.

So based on this numbering scheme, I still have no 1, 2 and 4

Lastly can I soak the main unit and submerge the mains cable in a 50% water/vinegar solution?

Ahh, 1 & 2 are at the bottom of the hole, I use a pick to remove them. 4 is the collar around the hole, you pry it out with a screwdriver.

right, 4 is out, I cannot see how I get 1&2 out, what is a pick? It's not a term I recognise in the UK, I'm a bit paranoid about damaging the unit!

Like the dentist cleans your teeth with. Here they sell them at auto parts stores as an Oring remover tool. Most hardware stores have them. A 5mm woodscrew threaded into the center should also do it.

ah ok, I just raided my wife's makeup box and got it out with some small tweezers

Now last question I promise, is it ok to soak the main unit inc the cable in a vinegar/water solution overnight?
