Ok my beautifull RBTA has died after 2 days....:( . He seemed to settle in quite well, found a home within 30 mins, eat some lancefish and was somewhat larger than when he was at the lfs.
I decided that since he handnt moved for2 days id move the zoo frag he was sat on( baaad move) and he started to expand at the foot bit towards the rear of the tank. I waited a while but nuthin happened so i went to bed. This morning I awoke to tank of milk:eek1: :eek1: :eek1:
My BTA had been sucked up by the filter in take( which i didnt think was accessible or powerfullenough to suck up something so large). I immediatly emptied filter and got rid of anenome remains from intake and did 20% water change. I returned home 10 hours later and repeated water change and filter maintenance but water is still cloudy.

Can anyone out there with experience of this advise on what is likely to happen next? Will rest of my livestock live? do i need to change water daily? When would be best time to try again?

You need to perform larger than 20% water change. I would change at least 50%, and then maybe 30% every day for the next few days.

Run fresh carbon.

Your livestock should be fine, if you manage to keep ammonia and subsequent nitrites under control. Use good quality test kits, such as Salifert.

follow marina's afvice and wait until the tank water is completely stable again for atleast a month. Then protect the anemone from your intakes. That's when you are ready for a new anemone.

Run carbon. For days. Water changes. Next time put a sponge shield over that intake. Unhappy anemones become weightless and drift with the current...this one leading to the intake.

Yes. You might want to replace it every 3 days or so, until there is no more nitrites in the tank.
