Wanting to turn one of my tanks into a display fuge, i want it to look like the tank in this picture i found on google images. Can anyone ID the flowing grassy stuff?

I dont want anything that goes sexual and spreads and polute my other display tank.
Anyone have any clippings of this stuff they wouldnt mind parting ways with? Starter packs on some websites are priced a bit silly if you ask me. Not asking for a free handout or anything, i can paypal you. Also need some cheato.

The grassy stuff is a type of seagrass. Very difficult to keep alive, needs high light and specialized substrate, not a plant you want to start with if you don't have any experience with saltwater plants or macroalgae. Closest looking easy algae to it is caulerpa prolifera.

Wont caulerpa go sexual unless lit 24/7? I was hoping for a tank that would be lit the same photoperiod as my other display next to it.

Caulerpa is perfectly fine under a normal photoperiod. Caulerpa prolifera is one of the least invasive of the caulerpas. Grows fairly slowly, and very rarely goes sexual. As the macro grows, just cut the runner every now and then to keep it in separate pieces. If it does go sexual, the whole piece goes. If each piece is small, you don't lose much algae and the impact of the spores on the tank is not harmful.

No. Prolifera is not prone to going sexual. I keep about 6 different species of Caulerpa and I keep them on a regular photo period. Where did you hear that they had to be lit 24/7? I've heard that a few times recently and I don't understand why people think that. In my opinion if you keep the lights on 24/7 it would be more prone to going sexual because it would grow faster and deplete the nutrients faster, macro algae sporalates when it thinks it's going to die mainly because of lack of nutrients.
