I'm still new - what is the cup for/doing? Is that a probe sitting in the cup? is it possible that the algae if fueled by potassium from the plastic cup leaching out?

Are you thinking that by the nice little ats growing there Gary? How long has that been growing? I imagine even if the argonite media was made with just ultra low levels it would have to go somewhere after releasing.

I had to read up a bit on calcium reactors. interesting - thanks for contimuing to educate me in my free time for no charge :)

and yes :) :)

additionally, after overflowing the effluent collection cup the effluent fuels algal growth inside the lit refugium I have below it. There's very little algae growth in my display.

The pic shows about 6 months growth. Cup and probe were spot free of algae. Note how algae is actually growing upwards upon itself to reach drip!
