divers den crab question

Beemo

hi, you have a Large red hermit crab in your divers den section.
i was wondering what their temperment is like?
i have a semi aggressive tank with a baby snowflake eel, baby 2" niger trigger, valentini puffer and a lemonpeel angel, tank is 55 gallons. there are also 4 blue legged hermits.

will a large red hermit be a bad idea? are they capable of killing sleeping fish and smaller hermits?
thanks so much

Beemo,

Thank you for your inquiry. We will be checking with our Aquaculture facility to find further information about the behavior of the Large Red Hermit Crab featured in our Diver’s Den. Further information will be posted here as soon as we receive it.

Beemo,

Thank you for your patience while we researched the Dardanus calidus. We do not recommend placing this Hermit Crab into an aquarium housing a Snowflake Eel, Niger Trigger, Valentini Puffer and a Lemonpeel Angelfish. It is possible for this larger hermit to kill sleeping fish and other smaller invertebrates in the aquarium.

Another concern is crabs and other invertebrates are a natural food source for these more aggressive fish and they may eat the crab.

If you have further questions please feel free to contact us.
