DIY Algae Turf Scrubber

What size screen do you think best fits the light spread from this LED flood and about how far away from the screen are you putting?

Could I get a PM for the distributor you used also?

Hi

Its hard to say as i never did any tests on bigger screens,I'm using a 6 X 10 Inch screen and its growing great on it,in fact it even grows on the plastic pipe on both sides of the frame work.My lights are about 2 to 3 inches from the screen.

I built a scrubber 3 days ago from the inspiration of this thread and your video daytek. Same LED light on one side of the scrubber too. I took a video on day one of setting it up and wanted to share it with you... I am already seeing growth.

It's coming along really well! A good amount of brown algae growing on it but it doesn't have as much growing on it as yours. What's your secret to growing thick algae?:reading:

Thanks for asking

The reason I asked is that I assumed the light pattern would have the same width and height so I though a square screen might be more efficient use of the light but I am only guessing, I've never built or owned a scrubber.

Looking at your video i would get the lights closer to the screen, about 2 to 3 inches, and run them 18 on and 6 off

You could be right about that,i just made mine to fit the sump and i left it a bit longer so the screen would go just under the water to cut out the splashing sound as the water runs off it into the sump, but a square screen might work better for that kind of light
