I just did the same thing, letting it settle down and will post pics later on tonight.
Mario

Hey Mario,
How does this mod compare to the original sedra 5000? does it really pull more air and producing even more bubbles with this Eheim pump?

Thanks,
Loc

here's a sure way to attach the wheels so that i don't slip. can have 1 or more locking cuts.

yeah.. all my other venturi only give me around 6lpm mark like yours. My way is the best way I can find it pulls the most air. Believe me, if I didn't block the intake a little bit, it could pull way more air than 9/10lpm in which my ASM G2 can't handle w/o return micro bubbles back into the sum.

Yes, I tried the venturi from sedra, or even from Eheim (finsreef). They don't pull much air tho. The best I can get out is around 6lpm.

mdboyz, so how far in did ou drill the whole. Iam having issues with my only getting 6-7lpm. Also what size tubing are you using for the air intake. Is there a way I can see how your venturi is mounted.
Thanks
Mario

well afther some fideling with the pump I now have a nice reading of 9-9.5lpm(540-570lph). I did some mods to the pump itself, by opeing the intake some more. I noticed that the sedra pumps and the venturi versions have diffrent size intakes. That made me belive that it also would help having a larger intake. So from opening the intake I went from 5-6 to 9-9.5 what a huge diffrence it makes. I dont think I can get any higher then that but sure beats paying 300 for the h&s version.

are you guys using the needlewheel from a sedra 3500 or 5000?

I'm using the needlewheel disc from Sedra 5000. I want to try the one from Sedra 9000 too.. but I don't have one in my hand. Does anyone know the diff between the needlewheel in 5000 and 9000? Bigger disc.. or taller needle?

Johnny so how is the pump working for you? any new pictures of it? Did you ever get a chance to try the 9000 needle wheel?
So far mine is doing great and its working a lot better then the old sedra 5000 was.

Yeah, the pump is working great for me. No new pix yet. As soon as I got new pix, I'll post it up. Anyway, I don't have the 9000 needlewheel to play with yet. But if I do, I'll let you know how it turns out. For now, the Eheim 1260 is way too good for my ASM G2 skimmer :)......

Hey guys, do you have any idea how this mod compares to the actual Sedra 9k pump? The Sedra 9k and the Ehiem are pretty similar size pumps right? Is is that much worth it to mod the Eheim when you can just buy a Sedra 9k?

The reason I ask is my buddy has a ASM G4-X with the 9k pump on it....Im curious how much better that skimmer would work with this ehiem mod???

Another case where we need a comprehensive list of pumps and thier respective performances :(

I just looked that the air rating on the GenX 4100 based on EuroReefs #s and they claim it pulls 15 lpm ..From Deltec's site, the Ehiem 1260 pulls 15lpm. For some reason I highly doubt that the GenX actually pulls as much as the Eheim....Then again, the EuroReef GenX are modded correct?? We REALLY need somone to test these freggin pumps and give is the REAL numbers.

Horace, I've seen a couple users with Pics of the GenX pulling that much. I've seen it as high as 18.

I think the eheim is being talked up here, and isnt really as nice as people think it is. I also think that venturi has more to do with this than the actual pump.
