DIY led moonlight Qs?

I have a set of moonlights from rapid led. That I more or less just bought to experiment with DIYing leds.

Now on my Hamilton Halide fixture some of the moonlights went out.

Since I have this kit lying around, I was wondering if I could just get away with screwing the leds directly into the fixture with some thermal compound, in the space between the bulbs. And then just run the wire inside the fixture its self?
I know not properly mounting the leds on a heat sink isnt good for them. But I am not too concerned if they dont get a full life out of the leds.

Unless anyone has any better ideas, on how to mount the leds. Attempting to do this in the cleanest way possible.

If the fixture you are mounting them to is metal I'd say go for it. The driver they provide is only going to be running them at ~350mA or 1 watt, so I'd say heat shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Yeah there's a sheet metal plate inbetween the bulbs I can pop out I was going to mount them to. I was a little more concerned about the heat coming off the fixture it's self.

How hot does the sheet metal get? I don't know how heat affects a powered off led. Assuming you have the moonlighting on a timer of course

Well, that's probably no good. But then again it would be interesting to see how they would tolerate that heat.

I guess it depends on how attached you are to your moonlight kit! :p
