DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

I've been playing with my new Octura propellers.

And here they are those that worked with a Maxijet

59639octuras.jpg

From left to right respectively from weakest to strongest in terms of flow.

single 1435 (1.38")
dual 1435 (feels about the same as a single 2035)
single 2035 (1.38")
single 1240 (1.57")
single 1440 (1.57")

What didn't work

dual 2035
dual 1440
dual 1240
single 1445 (1.77")
single 1245 (1.77")

We definitely have reached the limit for the Maxijets. These Octuras are definitely way better than the Nitro Hammer ones though as one single 1435 or 2035 would generate more flow than the dual Nitros.

Say bye bye to the Nitro Hammer :D

You can order them here
http://www.funrcboats.com/category.aspx?categoryID=109

or contact Octura directly. The only thing is they have no email nor website so everything is done via phone or mail.

If you get them for use on a Maxijet I recommend either 2035 or 1435 propellers for MJ400 and MJ600

MJ900 and MJ1200 you can go a bit bigger with 1240 and 1440 props.

HAHAHA D, not to get off topic, but I live like 10 minutes away from where you ordered the motors! I'm going to pick mine up in an hour!

I have been lurking and enjoying this thread.

I have started a mod. using a 1 1/5" X 2" adapter.
I made an insert out of a 1/2" piece of pipe to go inside then used a test cap for the grooved part to connect to the
Maxi-Jet 1200
It is tapered like a funnel.
I followed your lead and used a .098 carbon fiber rod with soft and stiff airline tubing.

I have come up with something helpful.
I have learned how to find the exact (well almost) center of a circle.

It takes a peice of paper, a ruler, and a Compass. You remember these, you used them in geometry class. It has a sharp pointy thing and a pencel connected to a metal hinge.

First take your pipe, cap, etc and trace around it on paper.

Then mark two points on the circle. Use your compass by putting the sharp pointy thing on one of the points. Then make a big arc with the pencil. Now go to the other point and do the same.

The two arcs will touch each other at opposite ends of their curve. Draw a line between these two intersections. This line will bisect the circle.

Repeat the procedure with two more points on the circle.

Where the two bisecting line cross will be the middle.

works like a charm. Any two points will do.

I am using a test cap as the top where the top end of the carbon rod will exit and achor the prop. By using this procedure I believe it will be vibration free.

I have ordered a prop from Hong Kong. It should be here this week and I will post results.

I love this stuff!

Did the mod this weekend, took me a while to figure out that a longer section of rigid tubing helps the prop draw more water in through the side holes. The first one I made was too stubby and created poor flow. I notices some of the mods in this thread had stubby shrouds. They all had very little material in the section behind the prop. I guess I could could have redone the stubby version but since this one worked... Anyway, here are some pics...

D,
I believe it is an Octura 1240.
I did not know the company was in hong Kong untill I ordered.
prop including shipping was just over $9.00.

I am so confused,as to what prop to use,for max flow. One says Dumas 1.75,and someone else says 1235,and yet another says something like 4035. What is the best prop for max flow with a MJ 1200? Ted:confused:

You can order Octrura 1240 here in the US. funboatrc.com sell them and you can order directly from Octura Model (the manufacturer) as well. Would be cheaper than buying from HK IMO.

1.75" Dumas is still the king for flow.

See here for a list of Octuras from weakest to strongest.

D.

Just ordered a 1440 prop from the place you order from. Shipping is $11.20.
It was actually cheaper to order from Hong Kong....... of course I haven't got it yet either have I...........
