DIY MaxiJet Stream (Pic Intense)

Thanks Kreeger1 found it.

Interesting. I wonder how Lutz plan to get the propeller to spins the correct way. There isn't much free play in the rod judging from this photo.

FWIW, I think using nylon will improve the strength of this a lot. Hard plastic doesn't give so easily and would be more prone to breakage

When it's running it FLOW"S nice but i'm sure with the buzzing sound it has some resistance, waiting for the nylon replacment.
then will see how many more I want.

here's a simple mount that angles the unit in the tank...
Just parts from the box the maxi jet came in, probably already been done before...

a little sand paper and glue and everything fits tight and is very strong...

Cool mount Drew. How's your tank liking it? :)

Just some question about the Lutz mod or the mod in general. Does it make much noise being turned on and off and will they work well on a wave maker??

IF there is a stopper in place to prevents reverse spinning, you can indeed use it on a wave maker. I cannot speak for Lutz's mod but my stopper requires that the propeller blade hit it to stop spinning then stop and reverse itself (this all happens very quick in like 1-2 seconds). If and when the propeller blade hits the stopper, there may be a slight ratchet sound from that. Nothing unbearable IMO. Most of the time on restart, the propeller is already spinning the correct way already.

I have two on timers (30 min each) and they usually start the correct way so there is usually no noise at all from start up other than the hum of the pumps themselves running. Once in a while, on of them will clack a bit if they try to start the wrong direction. This happens quickly as D stated, usually less than a second or one clack. :) I am very pleased with mine on timers.

Well they do run in reverse I received the new props that have a stop cut into them & that by its self does not work. Unfortunately it looks as though Matt (lutz493) does not wish to be bothered. Even his screen name says moved on.

Have you tried contacting him via direct email?

Otherwise you can post a photo of this new propeller and housing, I and others might possibly be able to tell you why it's not working.

Matt is no longer able to comunicate through reefcentral.com forums due to the high interests in posts of his product. Any and all questions and concerns need to be directed to his e-mail where he may assist you, thanks.
