Got bored last night and started this

It measures 8" x 8" x 10". I'm trimming it in mahagony. Heres a pic with some of the trim in the fitting process.

Well I'm going to get back to figureing out how I want to build the canopy. Haven't figured out what kind of lighting I'm going to run yet. Also thinking about putting in a built in fuge. Happy reefing everyone.

Hi Inkmates,

Is that an acrylic box?
I would use a 20W 50/50PC from Coralife. It uses a regular lamp socket.

I would make the canopy out of the same wood. Just paint the inside glossy white.

Very cool looking and it does look like glass.

it is glass 3/16" or 1/4". Just some scrap glass I had laying around. all the trim will be mahagony and I might go with led's for the lighting ebay has some nice little prewired arrays for a decent price but the lighting is still in the air at the moment.

About how many gallons is this? and what are you going to be keeping in it?

haven't bothered to look up any formulas to figure out volume yet. stock list is still up in the air at the moment but I'm sure it'll be crammed full of goodies soon enough.

built this today while I was waiting for some of the glue on the trim to dry first pic is a little blurry, sorry, I made it so my little pump just barely fits but I wanted to leave as much room as possiable in the display area.

I also painted part of the tank to hide the fuge area and equipment. Picked up some plumbing parts for a diy bulkhead as well ( I think the guy at ace hardware is going to kill me if I bug him about stuff for my tanks any more lol) More pics to come happy reefing everyone

Thaks guys I'm really starting to like the way this is coming along. At the moment I'm trying to figure out how to silicone the inside of the fuge area its only about 2"x4" so my hand won't fit into it let alone the chaulk gun lol. I think I'm going to have to find a bit of small tubing and make a straw extension to get the chaulking down in there.

just water tested it not a drop leaking any where. Shh don't tell my wife but we're going to go look for lights for the little guy today lol. happy reefing everyone

I prototyped some moon lights today

I think I found a good deal on some leds for tank lighting. Waiting for color tamp info on them at the moment but if there usable there will be 48 whites along with the 5 blues I already have. Should be interesting to see all lit up. Happy reefing everyone

tagging along, Im going to make around the same size tank this week, but I cant decide on lighting either.
