DIY Plumbing. Use PVC Solvent to adhere drain pipe to bulkhead?

I have my plumbing roughed in and I was wondering if I should use solvent to adhere the drain pipes to the bulkheads or if I should use some silicone in case I ever to take it off. (I use dual 1 1/2" standpipes for a 65g tank with Eheim 1260).

Thoughts?

Do you use PVC pipe solvent for ALL connections, some, none?

The last thing I don't want to do is drain the whole tank if there is a problem or have to install new bulkheads if the drain pipes underneath need to come out.

I would use threaded bulkheads just to be safe. Gives you the flexibility to just shut off the drain if you want to move to something else.

Do you have built in overflows? (megaflows?). If so, you can glue youre drain pipe into slip bulkheads as long as you dont glue anything onto the bottom end. You can just raise up the bulkhead through youre overflow with the pipe attached! :)

It's all DIY bulkheads I got from the local hardware store here. They are PVC. The standpipes aren't in any corner overflow box, so to remove the bulk head because of a problem with the plumbing down below means to breakdown the tank.

Dana,

I guess is doesnt matter if you glue them then. I would glue above the bulkhead to avoid a leak between the bulkhead and standpipe.... Water surface/standpipe/glue/male end (top)of bulkhead/glass bottom/female end(nut) of bulkhead/glue/drainpipe to sump
