diy powered siphon

What is that metal,in the barb,in the tee.

The second valve you turned (the white one) in the first video, is that to redirect the flow from the return from the DT to the "siphon/Sucktator" and if so how do you keep your sump from overflowing when vacuuming the DT?

I REALLY like you idea and about to rework my plumbing and place my sump and gravity return fuge to the room behind my tank so your timing it perfect. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything...

Yes, the white valve directs all the flow through the sucktator. That gives more sucking power, but I only use that to vacuum the sump. When vacuuming the DT, I leave it open.

I just did the same thing. Upgraded my sump, and relocated to the closet behind that tank. Finally got to try this idea out. This could also be run from its own pump if it was to much trouble to tee off the existing plumbing.
Have fun!

Ah, that makes sense. Any reason one couldn't extend the leg of the tee with the barb adaptor so that it goes through the wall between the DT and sump thus eliminating the need for such a long (aka 15 foot) tube?
I am thinking about placing the barb behind and above my DT so I can use a shorter tube. Would that work or will that place the barb too far away from the venturi?
