I was reading back over the thread and you where saying the 5" screen would be faster with a different ITDB02 lcd shield using ic could you point out the one you are going to use or want to use?

Considering the DUE runs at 3.3v, would you even need the shield to run the 5" lcd? Or am I totally missing something?
 
Can't edit my last post, odd. Anywho, this is probably a stupid question but how hard is it to add additional channels for dimming in your sketch?

Yep with the due you don't need the shield, another reason I'd like to switch to it.

To add in extra dimming channels won't be super easy as the dimming code is going to be in the atmega328 firmware and all the pwm pins on the atmega328 are used for the 6 channels.

You could always use the pins on the mega but you'd have to create UI buttons for controlling the extra pwm channels then add the code for controlling them to the arduino mega sketch.

I wouldn't say its really hard if you know how to program already.
 
If we are using a 3.3v system though we need to upgrade our RTC to the ds3231 since the ds1307 can only run on 4.5-5.5 volts.
 
Just got home with a new fish, Emperor angel I always wanted one now I have to acclimate him going to be a long nite
 
In my current "dream setup" I'll need 8 channels for individual dimming. But, then again, maybe I shouldn't worry about dimming red/cyan separately. Maybe lump in the blue's with the royal blues, etc to cut it down to 6 channels of dimming.

The other thing is I planned on using meanwell ldd drivers for my led's. not sure how well the dimming on 3.3v would work out.

At this stage I'm still barely playing around with the coding and haven't gotten the hang of it just yet.
 
my google-fu is incredibly weak apparently. Thank you very much marspeed! So it looks like all you need is 0.8v-2.5v to dim them. suhweet!
 
Yeah, the first link are for US versions, the second link is for the standard IEC connectors (computer psu's, audio equipment, etc)

I think it makes a more professional looking power box instead of using standard wall outlets. Easier to wire up as well.
