DIY Reef Controller

Yeah as sharkboy basically said... This is a work in progress, basically open source, non funded build. Nick has done a great job getting this far but who could really blame him if he even dropped it completely now? Its Not like everything he has done to this point would be trash, someone else could just pick up from where he let off. I'd do it but I simply don't have the time, funds, or knowledge to contribute. Really what this project needs is a good manager and a few geeks to collaborate together. Someone to pull it together and say ok, Here's our base code and equipment. Jon, focus on the UI. Bob, focus on the hardware. Joe, work on this function. You, that function... Then pull it all together. Honestly, it's simply to much for 1 person to do solo and be learning how to do it as he goes. Especially for free... Open source was never meant to be a one man band.

Peoples comments may have ****ed him off. I just wish he wouldn't let a few impatient people spoil it for the rest of us who are patiently waiting. At this point I'm just hoping he doesn't abandon the project.

I see it more as emotional involvement. A lot of these people are drawn to better provide for their tanks, which they also love.

I will keep his boards I made on a shelf but it is time for me to move on to a different control unit. If nick comes back I can pick up where I left off. I hope he is just out drinking and having fun (he just got out of college) and that nothing bad has happen to him anyway Nick if you read this msg me

Was thinking the same thing

Did anyone ever great a test version of the software too try out? Maybe it could be posted so progress could continue at least.

I'd need all the parts for cheap from someone to try and develop for it. I can't be the only one though lol. But need the parts to make anything happen.

I'm developing a controller right now if anybody's interested. It utilizes a 3.2" touchscreen like this one and an Arduino Mega, but it's primarily geared toward LED lighting control.
I'm working on adding cloud and lightning effects right now, and pump control. After that I'll try to add on a second temperature sensor.
I can't post links here, which I believe includes ebay links, but right now it's pretty simple so I shouldn't need to post any links.
I will make a thread for it and update the parts list.

Oh yeah, and I'm improving the Typhon code.

I'm also starting out a new controller project. Ordered all the bits and am waiting for them to arrive.

Just trying to work out how to do a DIY conductivity probe. Read a thread where someone suggested using nickel plated probes.

I can PM you a link, right? I know where to get some salinity probes for about $60.

I would like to keep mine if there is a possibility of getting it running. But if no one else is willing to sell you Thiers I will let mine go. I got the main board, ato board, 2 outlet boards, and the atlas stamp board along with the alarm and 16 outlets. And all components to assemble the boards. I did not get the mega or LCD because I was holding out hope for the DUE.

ok we need a head count if you have nicks mother board please post

or the mega or DUE for this build
