DIY "Stream" Style Pump

There is no patent for this mod as far as I know. Maybe someone else can chime in but as far as I know it's kinda a free for all right now. :)

I did the mod a couple days ago, using an NOS-prop out of my parts box, it was noisy, then i came back across to this post, and noticed it had never been addressed by any of you other rc boaters out there.

But if you trim your propeller, you ruin almost any chance of ever getting the whole thing stable.

so after a minute or two of cleaning off my work bench i found my trusty ballancer http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDS11&P=0

a few minutes with my file and the noise is gone, the prop is sharper, and it pushes a ton of water :) don't know why i didn't do that in the first place, anytime i get a new prop for my boats i ballance it first. but anyways, i do know that some hobby shops will balance props for a small fee.

is there a link to a place where this thread is condensed into a step-by-step detailed instructions manual? Just thought I would ask before reading all that.

Here's a better thread that has more detailed instruction to do this. Even parts lists.

Here's my specific list:

-1 maxijet 400 (on hand)
-1 1.25" Adapter SCH4 (Home Depot)
-1 1.5" PVC Test Cap (Home Depot)
-1 bag of 0.098" OD carbon fiber rods (Local Hobby Shop)
-1 1/4"-1 1/2" diameter plastic propeller by Dumas or...(towerhobby.com)

-rigid airline tubing from LFS
-CA (cyano acrylate) glue (Local Hobby Shop)

how many of these mods should i use for a 180 gal tank(6ft by 2ft)? the ph we have here are rated for 2200lph for 25 watts. maybe ithose can throw more water than mjs?

Is it possible to balance a prop if it has been drilled slightly off center? It is nearly impossible to drill the props out perfectly centered. *mine are drilled close but not perfect. I do notice a slight shimmy when the props are running. Can this be fixed by having the props balanced?

2200lph is about 580gph. That's a lot of power for a 25W powerhead. What kind of powerhead/pump is this? And yes I believe they would be stronger than Maxijets.

To utilize that power though, you would need to use larger propellers (1.75" and larger)

I'm thinking 2 of these with the larger propellers on each end of the tank would be sufficient. If you want CRAZY flow use 4.
